What do you guys do with your old parts???

I try to keep 'em
I keep them for the perceived value to the next owner, even though I don't really believe there will be a "next owner" except for a family member or if I decide to get multiple personalities.
I believe our hobby is going the way of the "hot rods". It went through the "concours restoration" bit, and if you have a very rare model that might still be the way to go to get a higher value, but I think a tastefully done restomod would retain its' value.
I don't know WHAT I'm going to do with my C-4 when it's replaced with a TKO, though. I imagine if someone wanted to "get back to stock" it wouldn't be hard for them to find a "correct" C-4? I have no space to store a tranny or, for that matter, an old 302 when I get around to replacing it.
It would be interesting to see more experienced guys chime in - do you keep your old parts for their value in resale, or just sell 'em?

I'm a packrat, I hang onto everything for some damn reason.

I plan on building my car up, and everything I take off that can be rebuilt or reused ill keep in the barn, just in case the off chance i ever wanna go back to stock and brag about how its got lots of orginal parts...well thats not really the reason, im really just a packrat lol

I use them as key components to the obstacle course in my garage untill I get ruthless and scap them. I do have two four barrel manifolds for a SBC that I trip over every other day just in case I ever get another '67-'72 P/U.

On my 1969 Mach 1 with a 351W, I replaced the cylinder heads, exhaust manifold, camshaft, lifters, tappets, pistons, springs, UCAs, LCAs, steering assembly, drum brakes, radiator, motor mounts, and other stuff I am prolly forgetting.
I threw everything in the trash with the exception of the cylinder heads, thinking there was a market for them. Turns out nobody wants those either, even at $200 for the pair. Those are most likely going to end up in the trash too. "Send them to me if you are just going to toss them," they say, to which I reply; "Sure, for $200. Otherwise they go in the trash. you can fish them out of the garbage if you want after I have pitched them."

I agree completely. The old original suspension parts I took off my two Boss cars were sold on eBay for very little money, just as much as any other old Mustang parts would fetch. I regretted it because it was not worth the hassle of boxing the items up.Sicarius428 said:

i generally keep everything for future use or resale, i threw a bunch of old stuff away once. an original 4-core radiator with a bad core but perfect tanks, a perfect rim blow wheel from my old 70 cougar (would bring about 400 bucks now), an original tach dash for the cougar (already had one for the couga, didn't need the spare and didn't have room for it) i had a map light for the 69 deluxe interior that got scrapped somehow, an extra 3.25 geared 9" from a 69 stang, too much to list of course this was all mostly back in the late 80's early 90's when some of this stuff was common enough it didn't have a whole lot of value.
