What do you guys think about these?

I picked these on on eBay for $40 shipped. I know I've heard about these before, but I don't know anyone who has actually used them. Before I go pulling of my intake manifold to make the swap, I wanted to check with you guys and see if anyone has had or heard of any good/bad experiences with these.

They are OEM IMRC plates, but have had the valves removed and drilled out. Supposedly, these won't cause the computer to throw any codes. Even if if does, my tuner has a tune for CMCV delete plates, so I'm sure I can get my car to run if I put them in.

My questions is: Is it worth it?

Yes, it's worth it, especially at that price. Is that the lighting, or did they paint them?

And you will need your tune updated, mostly to turn off the motor for the deleted CMCVs.

I think they are worth it. I gained 6 rwhp from them with a re-tune though.

That's just it.....with these, I shouldn't need a tune. Since the bar that holds the valves is still there, there is something for the electric motor that operates these valves to open and close; so theoretically, it should trick the computer into thinking everything is as it should be. However, since the valves aren't there, the air-flow should remain uninterrupted.

Again.....theoretically. That's why I wanted to see if anyone has tried these; so I know what to expect.

I think the computer also adjusts fuel and timing when it moves the charge motion valves (not 100% sure) but if the computer thinks its still restricting air flow vice versa it could throw something off. I think its easier and safer to just get the option in your tune to disable the system altogether, my 2 cents.

The computer won't be fooled by the bar in there. The computer is going to realize they are open all of the time and not just at WOT. The extra airflow, which is increasing power, will need to be compensated for too.

lightblade & nastystang113: I think you're both right. I think the car will run, but not as good as it could. Kinda like when you put an un-catted exhaust: the car still runs, but not as good as it does once you tune it for not having cats on it.

I'm not going to be able to do it this weekend; hopefully I can do it the next. I'll be sure to re-post what happens.
