I have a connection now.

I was offered a custom kit with a single turbo. All i have to buy upfront is the turbo and the header... then everything else is custom made and I will be the first to get that kit.

I am still wondering...

expected price is around 4000 dollas...

just give me a couple words

The modular motors LOVE boost. I'd say to go for it. The main thing you are going to have to consider is how much power you are going to end up with. You'll probably want to build a better bottom end if you are going to push a lot of hp.
Sounds like you have a good hookup.
:)

ive got a deal like that coming my way also. is that your cost? or the project cost? my deal should involve me buying the turbo and having the custom work and pieces done at no charge. i would also be getting unit #1

<--------- that intercooler was unit #2 and will be by the same guy.
if anyone went to hot import nights he is the owner of the 300z with the turbo'd small block v8 in it.

i would say go for it as long as you know your hookup is an accountable one.:nice::cool:

Yea, definately want to build up the bottom end and with forged internals.

Otherwise all of that money 'invested' is just going to go to waste when your engine blows.

You wouldn't have as much to worry about if you were a Cobra, but you have that meager 2v. After 400rwhp thats when you're asking for trouble. I don't think I'm going to bother with the engine on this car for a while until next season and either buy a shortblock 4v and build it up ... either or crate something which is friendly to boost.

My advice is to start building now ... slowly but surely have it all put together by the end of next year.

Thats what I'm doing with mine. Turbo's are awesome. I like positive displacement blowers and turbos, but I like turbos better to make good power they require less boost, less stress on the engine, really mild cams, etc etc. The heat is the biggest issue. Any boost is good boost on a modular 2V.

Just don't expect to get away with putting it on and never having problems. Start saving your money to build the internals, because it'll happen eventually with 8-10 psi even with a really good tune. Maybe a year, maybe 3, maybe a week and a half, but just expect that it'll have to happen sometime.

Wheres the kit coming from, whats included, whats the setup, etc?

kit is custom built by a friend I trust...

he was a licensed welder and has already built many turbo systems...

i was thinking of a single turbo of smaller variety... say t4... that way i can keep stock block... i have been contemplating forged rods and pistons, but unless i have a plan set in stone it wouldn't happen

i am also getting a custom intercooler out of a truck :D hahaha...

but yeah my friend is good

Hmmm that I'd like to see. *cough* there's no short block 4v...its just the short block! ;)

What heat??? No problems with heat nowadays.

but... I still hate turbos :rlaugh: (per our conversation tonight) go w/ a cyntrifical supercharger
What bad have they done to you for you to hate them? And why should he go with a centrifugal s/c? :)

blow your engine, your wallet, your time, and your love of working on mustangs... (granted, if you don't build up the engine first :D) but... I still hate turbos :rlaugh: (per our conversation tonight) go w/ a cyntrifical supercharger, if you really want that look :nice: :D
don't want the look... i want the kick... we'll see in the next couple of days :)

Turbos rule........

Thing ya gotta love about a turbo system.......turn the knob up or down to meet your motors needs or capacities. Can't adjust the boost on the fly with a blower. Also, you won't make anywhere near the torque with a blower, especially down low. That means your gonna be winding your motor a little higher in the rpm range to get power. RPM's are what kill motors sooner than moderate boost.

well, 4 grand for 700-ish or more horsepower sounds good to me! :nice: just make sure that you get all your piping coated! turbos make lots of heat.. I think that coating the exhaust and coating the intake tubing will make it more driveable?

Just happen to have a T4 with split turbine flange for sale. Would be great for a 4.6. Was going to put it on eBay but figured I'd try stangnet first. Equal to a 60 trim. Mitsubishi Type: TF-07-17M. Part number 40-3897731. Numbers on the compressor housing are as follows: 49186-50500. Will support over 550 rwhp on a 4.6. New and never bolted up. Oil return is threaded and will come with a threaded aluminum flange for the oil inlet. Asking $500.00. PM or email for more info.
