what do you think? new gears and trany..............

Guys I just had a brand new transmission put in (3650 tremec) and 4.10 gears. All of this was done at the same time. When the car is in netural and I lightly rev the car I hear a low whine, keep in mind the car is in netural. Is that my transmission or the gears. I thought it might be the transmission. Im not very mechanically incline so please chime in. Any thoughts? I did not think the rear end gears were turning when in netural am I right? If so I would say it is my new transmission. Are there moving parts inside the trany when in netural and I rev it? I dont hear gears whine when driving, but sometimes when I downshift into 2 gear I hear it.

If the car is in N and you aren't driving then nothing in the trans or rear axle is moving. That whine is coming from somewhere in the engine.

I just talked to a dyno shop they thought it was the throwout bearing. Does this make sense?

Very well could be, if you rev in neutral, the rear end does nothing but sit there.

I've been told that t-56's are a lil on the noisy side. You may wanna try and check all teh fluids throughout the car though
