what does everyone know about the BXR intake manifold.

The 5.0 engine with only 9:1 compression won't make 400hp's without poweradder help. Maby with big heads and some RPM, but the bottom end won't take it. That is beyond false advertisng. I think when a company says what some of these do, it should be fraud.

That intake looks to me similar to the BBK but with a relocated TB.

Looks similar to the design of a alot of factory intakes that are out now, a little ahead of its time i guess. Would be cool to see someone bolt it on and dyno it.

I've got a 98 5.0 mag that has a bxr ad in it. It says 58hp dyno proven horsepower gain.

Might as well keep the thread from the dead rolling...

It was definitely not a bone stock short block, and certainly not E7's
(Dart Windsors btw). The benefit of the manifold was good high rpm power with no torque loss down low. I wanted one bad then, but was broke as a joke
The reason it failed? Probably because it was so damned expensive, people were freaked out about the distributor relocation, and standalone ECU's were not as widespread as they are today to take advantage of the benefits of the improved V-E . The Explorer EDIS setup is also now cheap and widely available in the JY, not so much back then. That would do away with the belt driven distributor.
