I would like to start this thread and maybe keep it around. 5.0 Magazine had a cool article a while back on what it takes for a 5 speed and Auto car to get into the 13's, 12's, 11's, etc.
There were also categories for nat. aspirated and blower cars.
I have an AODE, and would personally like to hear how to get to 13's n/a. You know proven combos. to people who know how to drive at the track.
So what are some good combos for 13's for our cars in a 5 speed or auto.?
This should include engine and susp. pieces of course, and any other tips or tricks.
Hope ya'll contribute.

If you are gonna focus on track performance and use those results to judge success then I think the most common mistake peeps make is they want to make more hp when they should be working to perfect a great 60 foot time.

The short time is where its at in drag racing.

4.10 gears, stall converter, drag radials, exhaust, pullies, timing, intake manifold.

That should do it in an auto.

Even if it doesnt "do it" those are awesome mods for an AODE anyway, plus a shift kit.

That explosion was not caused by nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide does not explode, unless you way overheat a bottle and the safety disk blows out.

Nitrous systems can create explosions when they funnel fuel through an intake manifold not designed for fuel to flow through, causing fuel puddling, allowing the manifold to explode after a backfire because the fuel ingnites. Not the nitrous. You will NOT "blow up" a motor with a dry kit! You can damage it, but the damage will be mechanical and not a spectacular fireball.

The picture looks like it's a nitromethane backfire....stuff thats way more unstable than nitrous oxide.

These were the mods I had at the time of my first 13 sec pass.

MAC Exhaust from heads to tails, March Ram Air, Pullies, and ET Streets.

60' was a 1.81
1/8th was a 8.64 at 78
1/4 was 13.58 at 102

Altitude was 450 ft above sea level with air temp of 55 deg.

Pratice good traction and some minor mods will get you in the 13's. I started modding my car a few yrs ago and just started to get into the whole track scene awhile ago and its pretty adicting. I should be in the 12's but Im new at this but hopefully after this weekend I'll have my first 12 sec time slip. Im not expecting it b/c then it wont happen but Im just staying hopeful.
