You know I thought you'd need some new control arms, sticky tires, gears, exhaust, good clutch, good driver, better set of heads, improved intake, tb, maf, etc... to be able to hit high 12's...

People are telling me they have been getting to low 12's with just gears and NOS, on an otherwise stock mustang??? How is that possible, is it possible? Maybe I've been smoking too much or they have been smoking too much. There is a lot of talk though and hardly any action where I live. At the drags, most of the 'stangs I see run in the mid 14's to mid 15's..

It doesn't take too much power to get there in these light cars. It can be done with gears + nitrous. It would probably have to be around a 100 shot and a good driver with it.

You only need like 102hp and a nice 60' to hit 12's. With Nitrous, gears, slicks, you will hit 12's no doubt. Its nice to have other things like exhaust, shifter, etc. But nitrous will give you all the power you need to hit 12's. I have gears, exhaust, bcam (really dosent do much), and slicks, and ill bet getting heads by the end of the year and that will put my well into the 12's N/A.

i would say that iff you had slicks gears and a shot of juice 12's would be attainable. once you hit em with juice then you would want to do all the things you mentioned to get 12's N/A and run 11's with juice.

I think you need mad crazy stickers and a fart pipe to get you to the 12's, nothing else will do.

Actually I have seen reasonably stock cars hit low 12's. Slicks some tuning and a good driver (definitely not me though).

what the hell, that's pretty dang cool! I'm working on my next 5.0 engine which has iron GT40 heads, Cobra intake, 65mm TB, 75mm MAF, 24# injectors (not sure), headers, h-pipe, magnaflow catback, etc...

I "may" be able to put the engine in the car this summer, but I may wait until this winter so I can detail the engine bay by hiding wires and filling in some holes...

With that engine, slicks and 3.73 gears and you should be low 13's high 12's, i remember in the other post you said your car is really light, that will help alot.

I know someone with an '88 GT who ran a 12.90@103.xx with a stock motor with 140,000 miles. All he has done is catback exhaust, weight reduction, drag suspension, gears, clutch, and slicks. He runs consistent 13.0s all day long.

ERNotch who used to post here went 12.77 @ 105 on an untouched long block, with basic bolt ons (MAF, Pulleys, exhaust, etc...). Not to mention no real weight reduction (notch tho and he weighs about 120 lbs).

12s arent much with a tire, gear and some basic bolt ons. Low 12s with a shot on a stock long block shouldnt be hard. Personally I think with a 150 shot and a stock long block, Id go for 11s!

Gears slicks and a few other things and you can hit 12s... You NEED a good driver, good track and your not gonna do it with an AOD GT vert.

A lot of guys are starting to not like me because I never belive they can hit 12's with a mostly stock Mustang lol Of course I'm not the type to mag-race or whatever... When someone asks me how much power she got? I usually say something like "Maybe 160hp to the wheels, I dunno"... And when they ask me how much I think my car will run on the 1/4 I reply with "I don't know, don't care right now since it's 100% stock, maybe high 14, low 15?"...

Well anyway I just ordered my exhaust system, headers and an off-road X-pipe.
