What drag radial are you guys running?

My mickey's are just about shot, they are 275/50/15 et street radials. I decided to try another tire so i bought the BFG drag radial, the model with the bald strip down the middle. I recieved them today from fedex and it doesnt look like the tire will suck in to my 8" wheel. They are 275/50/15's also, heard that these hook up pretty good and last longer then the et street radials which is why I bought them but Iam somewhat regreting it now.

Only reason I didnt go with the M/T's again is they seemed to start to "peel" and only lasted me about 2000 miles. Is it possible that I just got a junk set?

Basicly what it comes down to is should I try these BFG's that Iam not sure about, or just send them back and try the ET street radials again? Any input would be great.

Your the first person I have ever heard say the BFG's hook better. Do you have 60's to compare them too? I just ask because I could lauch 2k higher and drop a tenth on the MT's

I run the BFG's on 8 inch drag lites (275/50/15). I've had good luck with them. Only ever made 2 passes down the track and with a light launch the car went 1.68 60'. I got about 4k out of my first set.

All the cars I saw at WFC in St. Louis this year were running MT's all but 3 of the top 16 in the Drag radial class. I'm not trying to be an ass im just saying. Things are changing and bfg doesnt rule the game anymore.

MT's are preferred..I run 275/40/17 BFG's and find them to be a complete HOOT on the street..I have on good roads been able to hook in 1st (not an option on street rubber..EVER) and that was just AWESOME. The BFG's don't last long...but I really like what I've seen so far.

I'm using 275/50/15 NITTO 555R's and they hook up awesome.

myne did the same thing and i was gonna go with the bfg's also cause i cant afford to be buying tires ever 2000 miles. The BFG's are also like $30 cheaper a tire. Kinda dissapointed with the Mickey's as a <b>street tire<b/> cause they look like crap when they start peeling and dont last at all but they did make my old nitto's look like a joke in the traction department.

acctually in the NMRA there only allowed 2 brands of tires per the rules

5.1a) Permitted street-type D.O.T. radial tire list:
· BFGoodrich Comp T/A Drag Radial
· BFGoodrich G-force T/A Drag Radial
· Nitto NT555R Drag Radials
· Also accepted: any approved radial-construction tire with a D.O.T. tread wear rating of 180 or greater that fits all other criteria and sizing.

acctually according to the last line i guess they could run MTs, but the race i was at they were saying they couldn't run them for some reason. anyways, i have had better luck with the MTs than the BFGs, but could also be car setup.

just get a street tire, get another set of rear wheels, or rear drag lites on ebay for cheap, and put some ET drags on it, youll save ALOT of money, street tires will last more then 15k miles and you will bearly use the slicks, Id never buy a drag radial because I dont need traction on the street, and you cant compare a set of bfg dr's to a set of et drags.

The nearest track to me is 2 1/2 hours away. I dont really want to drive that far on ET streets which is one reason I want drag radials. Plus who doesnt want to hook up on the street a bit. I understand nothing is going to hook up 100% on the street but Iam looking for as close as possible with a decent tire life. I dont have a problem really running through a set of tires once a year. But if I had enough $$ I would do a 5 lug swap for FR500's and run prostars also, but seeing as I dont have much money to throw around Iam kinda stuck.

Nittos will last the longest of the three (about 10K on mine) and are good for the street but they hook the least of the three as well

i've had the bfg drag radials and the new m/t radial on my nova.the m/t kills the bfg,i never really checked mileage because when they wore out i replaced them.

Will a set of BFG 275/50/15 drag radials mounted to my 15x8 Weld Draglites with 4.5" backspacing fit? They would be going on my 90 LX Coupe.

I was previously using MT ET Streets 235/60/15 without any issues but after about 5000 miles they need to be replaced.

I already have the BFG drag radials here but I'm wondering if I'll be wasting my time getting them mounted? Please help!

My buddy is sponsored by a drag radial company, and was #2 at the WFC. He gets all kinds of tires shipped to him to try.
MT's are definetely better than the BFG's from a traction standpoint, but from being a street tire, the bfg's are far better.

There is a bunch of companies now doing drag radials.
The nittos, bfg's, and goodyears can all be used as a street tire, the mt's and hoosiers should NOT be, they even tell you on their website not to use them on the street.

I think the the hoosier site, goes as far as telling you that you could suddenly get flat tires, that's a bit scary.

Nittos give the least traction, but the best treadware.
If my car was a DD that saw more than 15 miles a day, that's what i would use. (and i have).
Anything less, i'd use bfg's (and i do).
