I just got a set of the 255/60R16 BFgoodrich Comp T/A DRs on my old 16" stockers and they improved the car a whole lot. My car has CAI, and 3:55s, and it went from a 14.5 to a 14.2 with only 3 runs. I should be able to go high 13s when I get some practice, so yea, they work fine....not overkill or anything either.

I went from 315/35/17 Nitto DR's to 255/50/16 BFG's on my stock 16's. I picked up ~1mph and 60's dropped from mid 2.0's with the Nitto's to very consistent 1.90-1.95 60's with the BFG's. That was good for ~2 tenths in the 1/4 and 2 tenths in the 1/8th.

I also run the stock wheels up front because they are ~10lbs lighter than my 17's and they are 225's vs 275's, so I'm sure the lesser rolling resistance helps. Also last time I dc'd the front swaybar (didnt remove it from the car tho) and that seemed to help a tiny bit, but not a ton.

Not trying to be a jerk here but maybe you should work on your launch a bit more first. I'm pulling 1.90's all day long on my stock radial tires (not DR's). So if you're only pulling 1.90's with your BFG's, maybe part of the problem is technique?

Again, I'm not dogging your driving, just offering a suggestion. I'm also in the market for some DR's in the future and feel your pain of not being able to hook...

Well do you have stock springs?

I have well over 150 1/4 mile passes and I know my car pretty well. The lowering springs really killed my weight transfer. When I was stock suspension I was pulling low 2.0's on hard as a rock BFG VR4's.

The Nitto's are more street than track tires, and dont offer very much sidewall flex at all. The BFG's are barely broken in, and every trip down they are hooking better & better. I only have 4 track days on them. Not making excuses, but our local tracks in metro detroit suck if you arent on slicks.

And to be honest I think 13.9 is pretty decent, which is what concerns me more than my 60'.

13.9 sounds about right for your combo. I do have stock springs, and I was running 14.2's before I started heavily modding and was still pulling 1.9 60' times. I could agree that track prep has a lot to do with it. If I use the other lane I'll pull 2.0's. Very strange that a track wouldn't prep its lanes the same ya know!?!

Anyways, I was just throwin out a suggestion. Also thought you were the one who started the thread

Anyways, how are those BFG's wearing for you? I'm thinking of getting a set since I only drive the car like 3-4,000 per year.

They seem very good so far, but I dont drive on the em other than to & from the track. I am rebuilding the trac-lok this winter and getting axles, so I might try some et streets next spring, depending on how good the BFG's hook with some LCA's.

I've got a pair of the NEW MT Drag Radials and have had poor luck with them. After talking with the tech's at Mickey Thompson I found out these tires don't work well with a 5 speed. The automatic trans is OK but they told me the standard transmission shocks the sidewall too much. I have made over 50 passes on them and can get no better than 2 tenths quicker than my street Goodyears. When I bolt on my E/T drags my 60 times are 1.67-1.70. With the Street Drag Radials the best I've seen is 1.97. I have ran the pressure all the way from18 psi down to as low as 8. Still the same...
My advise, if you have a 5 speed go to the E/T Street's if your stuck on a DOT tire.

Which is why I will NEVER run at milan again. I can cut constant mid-low 1.8 60's with my nittos at stanton, with a few 1.7's under my belt. I struggled at milan with high 1.8 60's...and they didnt come easy.

I drive 2 hours to race in stanton, while milan is only 1/2 hour away...what does that tell ya

Even with your lowering springs, you should be able to cut 1.7 60's...just not at milan (or lapeer for that matter).

Thats what I've been told. I plan on hitting Norwalk next year and maybe try out stanton if I have a free weekend night.

ET streets are basically slicks as far as I've been told, and I don't need to be breaking the stock 110,000 mile rear end right now. Maybe some BFG's are the way to go for right now. The next big mod I'm planning on is a complete rear end rebuild with some 4.10's (vs my 3.73's) 33 spline axles, new trak loc etc... but $$ talks...

I know I could just be careful on the launch, but who wants to do that?

How fast ya want to go...?
How much money ya want to spend....?
Speed Cost
I don't think drag racing and being careful with a launch go together........

Exactly, I can't afford to break on the track presently so that's why I have to go slow for now lol
