What DR's?

I just got 2 17x8 95 Cobra R rims and I want to know what drag radials I should get, I am completely stock right now and low on cash. Also will I hurt my car in anyway, do I need to get subframe connectors or something? I plan on remaining relativly stock ie. full exhaust and simple bolt-ons but no supercharger or turbo or gears, i need to be able to afford to use it as a daily driver.

If you swapping them at the track you might as well just buy slicks but if you want Drag Radials Nitto 55 extreme drag radials are great. Look at the reviews on stangnet they have plenty of choices.

Nitto and BFG make some good ones..... :)

Get some SFC's on there whether you race alot or not, it'll stiffen up the chassis and stop some of the squeeking that stangs are known for....

If your wanting to use DR's or anything stickier I'd suggest doing some prevenative stuff like having your torque boxes welded and axle tubes. I'm not saying something will break if you don't but the chances are their. As for DR's Nittos are good for the street because they tend to last alittle longer but BFG are gonna hook better, I had a friend with a 00 T/A with BFG's and they only lasted 6000+ miles!

I will only be using these at the track so I dont need something that will last 6000 miles. I also don't really go to the track all that much, like maybe 7 trips a year. I need something that will fit a 17x8 inch rim is the problem and I don't believe slicks go that big. I really don't know much about tires so any input is welcome.

i had a set of nittos and they were great. they always hooked when they were supposed to and they never spun more than about 5 feet. you might like the 315/35/17. 12 inches wide should have no problem handling whatever you throw at it.

i do however think the mickey T ET streets are superior. the 26x11.50x17 is the only size i know of. they dead hook no questions asked.

School: 275-40-17. 275=width in millimeters; 40=aspect ratio, which means 40% of width, which equals 110 millimeters tall; 17=diameter of wheel in inches.

As far as an extra set of wheels goes, you would be best off with a set of small diameter wheels (15in.) for drag racing. It takes too long to explain why on a forum, but if you are truly interested in why this is, you can email me at: [email protected].

M/T ET Streets will give you the best traction from a drag radial, while still being street legal. I believe they're only available for 15 or 16 in wheels though. BF Goodrich makes Comp T/A Drag Radials for all sizes. A set of 275-40-17's will run you $125 a piece at www.onlinetires.com . These are what I use, except I use 275-50-15's on v6 mustang wheels. The 275-40-17's will fit fine on 17 in. wheels.

I understand that 17 inch rims are not the best for drag racing, but I got such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up. I am not too worried about not having the best possible traction I can get due to the fact the my car does not have enough horsepower for it really to make a difference, it sounds like I should be able ot hook with any DR. Thanks for your info, I will mostlikely be getting BFG comp T/A DR's when I get the money.
