my brother in cali called and said he talked with his 90 yr old neighbor who owns a 73' torino (I think it was) wagon and would sell for $200 but it as not run in a few years. he said there was a 351 in it but he did not know if it was clevland or widsor. any guesses??

if its a W I would be interested in it for my stang possibly...

Where does the water neck attach? If it attaches to the intake, its a W, it it attaches to the block, its a C or maybe a M. Valve covers would be another tip off, if the tops curve in where the gasket would be, W, if the covers are square in that area, C or M.

it could also be a 351M, if it is stay way from it, there is no way to really make it work in a stang and it's a crappy motor anyway. it looks like a 351c at first glance but is a lot wider so be careful that you don't confuse the two. cleveland would be a good motor for a stang as well, although it's a bit difficult to install one in a 65-66 car, 67-up it's no problem though

A '73 Torino would have a Cleveland 2V. '73 was the last year of the 351C in passenger cars I think. Starting in '74 the 351W started being used in cars and the 351/400M was being used it trucks I think.

If it is the stock, original drivetrain it will be a 351 Cleveland (remember... the '73 mustangs were still running clevelands). Could be either 2v or a 4v engine. '74 was the last year of the 'pure' Cleveland - after that it was the 351M/400-oh and the occasional 351w.

You could be right, I had a 75 torino that was an "M", but it was a police cruiser.

Well, it should be a Cleveland if its the original motor, but a Windsor or a Modified could have replaced it as well.

I guess I should have been more clear.
