What fuel pump for a mild 306?

need some direction on what size fuel pump to go with on my 95. it will be a mild NA 306 setup with 24 # injectors.

im thinking 155 or 190?

do i need a in-tank electric?

preferance in brand?


summit has a holly in-tank electric 155 for $79. ( just a example)

I just installed the 190 from Ford Racing. The price is more but it comes complete ready to drop in. Make sure you get a new filler neck grommit.

is a FMS fuel pump the only one that is "complete" ready to use or are there others? whats the $$ on the FMS one?

A 190 will be fine. I am running a 255. Oh and just about all name brand fuel pumps are Walbro....I have a Holley and it says Walbro right on the side.

it doesnt matter who's name is on it (BBK, etc etc), they are ALL made by Walbro... from what i was told.

use a 190 or 255. most likely you will wanna upgrade your mods down the road and then you will be asking if you have enough pump.

I would just buy a 255 and be done with it. Plus you wouldn't be working the pump as hard and when you do more stuff you won't be saying I wish I would have bought that 255 for $20 more. When mine was fuel injection I didn't waste my time. I got 255 and didn't have a problem with it and noticed in 3rd and 4th gear after I had put it in those gears the car was stronger than ever before.

24# injectors on a n/a motor require only 114 lph at stock pressures. That said, I would recommend the 190 as well in case you ever need to go up in the future and the price difference is negligible.

thats what i wanted to know: what LB is required for my CI.

so if no planned future upgrades are planned, a 190 would be the right choice?

Use the 155, a 190 has very little use. The 190 is too little for a supercharger. And the 155 is enough to feed 400rwhp NA. Rendering the 190 for most people near useless.

I have run the 255 for years w/o issue. Just a lil n/a 306 here.

I ran the 155 at first and swore I would never need more. Thats till I added a nitrous kit. Guess what? The 155 wasnt enough pump. It wont hurt to run the 255 and it will cover you if your plans change. Dont buy twice or do the job twice if you dont need to. Get the 255 and be done.

Yes, I know that. I still used a Walbro and that is what I was saying...

There are other pump makers out there...popular? Probably not...but...

255 draws a bit more ampege and gives off a bit more heat. No biggie...

What psi supercharger are you referring too...? That isn't set in stone...

If I had a SC trim on my bone stock 5.0L with upgraded injectors (24's) and tune, the 190lph "smallness" wouldn't scare me.

I'm perfectly happy with the 190lph. I don't think "bigger is better"...plus I'm sure it runs a bit quieter compared to a 255lph, which is another plus.

this will stay NA motor ( ) , so i dont want to get a 255 for the sole reason of thinking that there will be a upgrade in the future.

isnt a 155 plenty for what im doing?
