what gauges to get(elec/mech, full/short sweep)?

Just got a triple gauge pillar pod for christmas and I wasn't sure what type of gauges I should get. The three gauges I'm gonna get are oil pressure, voltage and water temp. Should I get all electric gauges or mechanical? Also what is the difference between full and short sweep gauges? I did a search and found out how to keep the stock oil pressure gauge and water temp but I'm not sure where the stock water temp sending unit is located at? I'm most likely getting the autometer ultra-lites or the ultra-lite 2's. thanks

I have electric water temp and oil press. They work fine. Mechanical is more accurate from what I hear.
And full swee p means that the numbers span through out the entire gauge so you gan get more accurate readings. On most elec gauges the numbers dont even span half og the gauge, and say the width of the needle can give you a 20* difference.

Yep. Most mech gauges have a 270* sweep, whereas most elec's are 90-120* (there are some full sweep elec's for $$).

I chose to do mech temp and elec OP (since the OP was in the pillar, I didnt feel like running copper line up there). I didnt mind the uneven guage array (different sweeps) since I'm more about function over form.

The stock temp sending unit is behind the dizzy in the lower intake. It has one wire going to it.

I have the electric full sweep C2 gauges. I think they are pretty accurate. Most people say that the electric are not as accurate but I think they are referring to the short sweep gauges. The electric full sweep gauges will cost you though. I gave $162 for the oil pressure and $131 for the water temp.

I dont understand why full sweep electric gauges are more expensive. it seems like all they wqould have to do is calibrate them differently.

mechanical full sweep never had any problems.
