What gauges to get?

I have H/C/I, TB, MAF, hope to get a adj fuel reg soon.

I just bought a lunar 5" tach and a water temp gauge, and am going to get a oil pressure. I was thinking a air/fuel as well or what should I get?

How hard are these to install? Is the air/fuel pretty difficult?

Thanks!

Yes get a oil pressure and air/fuel also you could get a volt meter.
Then do some custom mounting. :nice:
I have a Saleen dash pod with auto meter carbon fiber gauges water temp and oil pressure.
I also have a plate that I covered in black leather that mounts in the spot under the radio for air/fuel and Boost (for when I get a supercharger). :hail2:
As far as installing just take your time read the directions and plan on most of a day to do it right. Having someone to help feed wires thru the firewall helps.

OT questoin but it doesn't need a new thread.

Why do people say that stock 02's are too inaccurate to use an A/F guage for. Or better yet, why are they innacurate at all. I remember reading that a WB o2 can read from 0 to 20 on a/f. Whereas a stock one can only go from 10 to 15.

Definately get the oil and temp guages though.

so you think just a coolent and oil pressure will be all I need?

electrical gauges are fine right? can you mix the two (one electrical and one mechanical)
those two are the most important, IMHO. others are nice, but if you can only have two (or two for now), those would be my choices.

mechanical voltmeters dont work very well. :rlaugh: J/K.
sure you can mix and match mech and elec gauges. good luck.

ill just get electrical...what other gauges might be useful for me?
since i think you mentioned an AFPR, i would get a FP gauge. your choice of what flavor you get (be careful when choosing if you are going to mount it inside the cockpit. you need an isolator, etc).

importance to me (different for everyone): oil pressure, water temps, volts, oil temps, FP, vac. i dont rev much so a tach is not important. the O2 gauge looks nice - you just tap into the ECU harness. if running only one gauge, get a toggle switch to go from bank to bank.

i have a fox, so im not sure how much more accurate your gauges are than ours. there is one guy with 16 aftermarket gauges over on the other side (5.0 tech). LOL.

ill also mention that one can get full sweep electric gauges, though they are $$. i like mech gauges myself, and one reason is the full (270* sweep).

all for now. good luck.

but i would recommend an electric oil-pressure gauge. that way if there is a line failure, you dont have hot oil squirting inside the cockpit.
