What gears do you recommend?

I own a 5.0 5spd mustang, so far only thing done to it is a offroad h pipe, magnaflow exhaust, and a short throw shifter. Trying to decide between 3.55 or 3.73 gears. Im planning on getting a cobra intake and throttle body very soon. I work at a machine shop so I am also planning a turbo setup for when i have the money. Not that it matters on this question but it a 94 Mustang GT. So what kind of gears would you recommend?

i would go 3.55, i have 3.73 in my auto and i wouldnt go with 411's. with the 5 spd i would go 355

if you are going to go with turbo then i would go with 3.55. did you search,because a lot of others hate this question, doesn't really bother me though

3.27s would be better for a turbo car. Or plan on running a tall tire. 3.55s will be OK, but not ideal.

Just noticed your turbo comment. Get 3.73's for now, and just swap em out when you switch to turbo.

3.55's with a turbo would probably be the best bet. If you were to keep it N/A then 3.73's all the way.

Definately 3:55's, 3:73's are just way to tight.

I had 3:73's in my 92 & it was basicaly pointless in using first gear, I meen it was so bad that I didn't even pass the stop sign yet & was already shifting to second, I got 3:55's in my new 93 & it's allittle tight but I like them very much, unless your planning on racing this thing or taking it to the track there's no need for anything tighter than 3:55's & besides that if you don't have a tremec what's the point in going higher when you can't shift fast enough to utilize em anyways

I had 3.73 for years and I wouldn't change but if you're going turbo than 3.55's would be better for you. Do a search on Turbomustangs.com and you'll mostly find the same opinion.

3.55' is what im gonna use................i had 4.10's on a N/A and they were fun but to much in the clutch for street.......

A stock cam/engine combo runs out too quick with 3.73+. The cure to regain 1st gear when going with lower gears is to buy a tranny with a 2.95 1st gear ratio.
