Well when I first got my mind set buying a pony I started ploting out mods, and when I started posting here I noticed a quite a bit of you have 3.73s..Well I came here thinking about getting 4.10s, it has been told that I would need performance chip inorder to have the 4.10s. Would it be a good idea to run 4.10s?

-- My car probably will be N/A most of its life unless I hit some major money, but I doubt that.

Go with a 4.10. They aren't that bad on the highway until you start going above 70. As long as you go slower than 70, your gas mileage won't suffer that much if at all.

If you have an automatic then, yes, you smack the rev limiter in 1st gear. This is prevalent in a 5.0 AODE with an aftermarket intake manifold, but will still happen without one.

Don't make the mistake of a 3.73 like I did. Next race season the 4.30's are going in. If my old man gives me too much hell about a 4.30, I'll buy a 4.56 and say it's a 4.10 :D.

I'm also wishing I had done the 4.10's instead of 3.73's. I even do a lot of highway driving and would still rather have the 4.10's. Not so say I'm not happy with the 3.73's, just that the 4.10's would be a lot better.

i'm trying to make this decision also. i don't see how 4:10's could be that much better than 3:73's. i just don't know what to do. it sounds like that if you go with 4:10's you won't be going over 100mph too often.

You guys still havent answered one of my questions do I need a performance chip or what for the 4.10s.. I've heard that you need something for those gears on our cars.

Maybe you are thinking about the speedo.

I think a different drive gear in the tailshaft so you can use a smaller driven gear will allow the speedo to work correctly.

Some have used an electronic device but I can't remember if they work on our cars. A search would find it as I remember many post about the device.

No I wasn't talking about the speedo, I already knew that it messed up our speedo. I think it was that if the car was an auto then we needed the chip. Alright then so I can just throw 4.10s in the car with no problems! Thanks alot guys I've decided to go with the 4.10s. (WHEN I GET MY DAMN CAR)

To fix the spedo with 4.10's all you have to do is get a jeep tranny drive gear. It's like a 26 tooth drive gear and it cost's under $2. If you do a search you should be able to find the part number on here. And hey good luck on your car search.
