What Heads for 600+ RWHP?

The title says it all. I am building a huge 351, and I need a nice set of heads to start it off. I am going with a custom solid roller cam, and Spyder intake. I was looking at the bare AFR 225's, but I have heard of a few other heads also.

What would be a good head for this application?

Yup,thats not a bad way at all,I just dont like it cause it make it look like a Cleveland :D Oh and your a little off on the price, thats like the buddy price. It probably gunna run your about $3K for the heads, then you want a good intake is about $300,and a dominator carb with about $1-1.1K depending on what you want.Of course if your gunna do that spring for a sheet metal tunnel ram :)

TFS "R's" with porting or Victors with porting would work too.

AFR 225's arent bad,but probably not gunna make as much power as you would want.

clevelands own, and there are typically atleast 1 dozen ebay auctions for loaded yates heads and intake for around 2-2.5. Right now its slim, I check weekly for a few more sets I could shelf :D

Ahh,but is that befor you take them to the machine shop to have them checked out,put new springs on and a new valve job? Cause I would do that befor I ran them.

Do you do porting on the intake?

I do that stuff myself, but anyone who is gonna be running a yates head knows whats involved. The other head I would run is a CHI. Hmm is that a cleveland head? :rlaugh:

Yep, AFR 225's since you'll be running N/A most of the time, which is almost "to big" of a head N/A really. Then a little play room to help the 200 shot. Get the exhaust ports worked on them, to get the extra "explosion" out quicker/more efficiently...

If you are shooting for 600 ponies at the wheels why not start off with a 460 and throw some aluminum heads and a cam at it. Much easier to achieve 600 ponies at the rear wheel with a big block then with a small block. You won't need any power adder either and i bet you it would be cheaper to build.
