What intake for my car?

I put on headers and high flow h-pipe and my car slowed down. I posted about this before and everyone suggested that I need an intake. I wanted to know what intake, tb, and mass air meter I should get. I don't want a cobra intake. I was thinking an Edelbrock Performer 5.0, Accufab 70mm tb, and I don't know about the mass air meter. This all needs to be smog legal because I live in CA. I eventually plan on getting AFR 165 heads and a cam later down the road. I want an intake that I can grow into. Mods are in my sig.

Thanks,
Clay G.

Unless you plan on doing forced induction, a 65mm TB might be better. If you are planning on a blower the 70mm TB should be good. The MAF just needs to be bigger than the TB - so a 70 or 75/77mm should be fine.

I run the Performer intake with the 70mm Accufab. Good combo. I disagree with the idea of a 65mm unit because the Edelbrock Performer intake has a 70mm opening, and edelbrock recomends this. You won't loose anything going with a 70mm over a 65mm, you'll gain if anything but you'll have more growing room.

The Performer is a good intake because you can upgrade to the RPM upper for a lot less than a whole new intake. It is also very portable, and easy because the rear cover comes off exposing the runners. There is also quite a bit of meat to grind on.

Accufab TB's are the best IMO. It is more jewery than an auto part. Not only is it pollished inside and out, but when you operate it by hand, it has the feel of a very solid, precision made peice. Must be machined in a gun shop kind of tightness.

I am also thinking of getting AFR heads. The Thumper ported E7s made a big difference, I could only imagine AFR's, but they are expensive, but definatly on my list.

I was looking at accufabs website and it says most of their products are not smog legal. Are the throttle bodies legal or not? What other brands are good that have a CARB number? Ive seen edelbrock, bbk, and i think mac. How are edelbrocks? Ive heard that bbk and mac suck. Also is pro-m the better mass air meters? It just needs to be bigger than the throttle body?

Thanks,
Clay G.

I have a edelbrock performer 5.0 intake and bbk 70mm throttlebody. What a improvement the intake made great throttle response and mid to top end pulls real hard. When I buy one manufacture I like to stick with there's cause they are made to work together,
