I am so annoyed on which intake manifold to get... I am looking at getting either:

Holley Systemax (2000-6500)
Edelbrock Performer RPM (1500-6500)
Trickflow Trackheat (1500-6500)

Or should I just spend 100 more dollars and get the Trickflow Trackheat or the Performer RPM II. Out of those 2 which would be better!! Let me know I am still undecided on which to get!!!!

Anyone have a graph that shows how much HP these will provide? I just would like to know before christmas, I would love to find one of these under the trees since I just want car stuff. :p

I always thought the GT-40 Flowed the best.

Where did you hear that? By far not at all. The GT-40, Cobra, and Explorer all use the same bottom and flow about the same. They are good intakes, but I think the GT-40 is overrated and overpriced.

PhLoBus: You are going to loose power with those intakes with your current combo. In your case, Ray is right, the GT-40 would be a better choice. Those are some big intakes, they flow more volume of air than your heads can pull. I really think your better off with other mods at this point. Save for some heads, then worry about the intake. But with stock heads your not going to see 25-50RWHP as advertised.

The Edelbrock Performer is a good expandable intake, good even flow numbers between ports, you won't loose bottom end but will gain some up top, but really, I would look into a TMOSS ported lower.

90mustangGT is right, the GT-40 is over rated, and it really does not flow all that well, thats why I ditched mine, It does not even flow as well as the basic performer, but it will be a good choice for your current setup, along with the cobra, street heat, and performer. I think the street heat would be the best choice. That is just my opinion.

Yeah I knew the gt-40 was not great thats why I asked about those 3 I said above... How much is a TMOSS lower intake and where could I get it? Any pictures? I plan on modding my car over the winter not just putting a upper/lower intake on and thats it. So I was going to get a fairly good intake because I am most likely going to supercharger my car soon...

Edelbrock anyone?

I am running the Edelbrock Performer and it's pretty good. It's well made, factory quality if not better, and is easy to pull the upper. You can also pull the back cover off for porting and cleaning. The Edelbrocks are recomended over the TFS intakes generally, they are both good, but I think you'll be happier with the perfromer.

EDIT: About the TMOSS. TMOSS is a member of this forum who ports them cheap, and at this stage you'll probally get the most gains with his intake. I think about $130! The stock upper is pretty good, it's the lower that only flows 130cfm, he'll open that up for you.

Something new maybe?

Maybe some of you have heard... or not, about the new BBK intake for the 302? Its available now and runs for about $569 for upper and lower. It comes with its own set of custom billet fuel rails and its own fuel pressure regulator. It has a very different design from other 5.0 intakes and somewhat resembles the 3.8 V6 intake. It was dynoed in 5.0 magazine for December 04, (which somehow comes out 2 months in advance every month) and showed that the BBK outperformed the stock intake by only 7 hp in the midrange band, but as rpms went up through the 5000+ mark, the BBK was pushing more than 40hp more than the stock intake. Torque had the same effect.

I dont know about you guys, but 40 hp over stock sounds good to me... I wouldnt mind puttin this up against my GT-40 on the dyno. :nice:

BBk intake was put on a COBRA with Eddy heads if I'm not mistaken. The reason BBk looked so good is cause the stock intake tested first was choking the motor BAD. an Eddy or Holley intake would have been a much much better comparison. I think the BBk people have to show something a little better in terms of testing before I get excited.

exactly what i was gonna post. the test motor they used was a cobra motor (GT-40 heads) but with the stock HO intake manifold. was really biased IMO. they shoulda done a shootout, but then again that was STILL just a test intake not the real deal quite yet. they should do a shootout, with stock motor, mild motor and wild motor. but what other intakes have they ever done that with?!

The engine that they tested was totally mismatched. That was a poor article to base your decision on. I suggest the Trick Flow but you really can't go too wrong with the Edelbrock or the Holley in that order. I think the Trick Flow will give you better torque but you probably won't gain anything untill you get the supercharger.
