What Intake should i get?

I've been looking around and i found out that niether AEM or Ingen make intakes for the 94 Mustang GT. What do u guys have in your cars that are similar to intakes and what should I get. Is there even an intake system for 5.0s? Or are there special air filters.

I found this one, would it be good to buy this, also, would it give my engine a little more sound.
Should i get this

Are you joking or are you serious?

From the question, I'm assuming you used to modify foreign cars. Welcome over from the darkside. You've been taught wrong for years. With a V8 car, especially a 5.0, there two main types of "intakes", so I am unsure about which you are asking of.

The first one you could be referring to is a "cold air induction" kit which includes the piping from the air filter housing, all the way up to the throttle body.

The other you could be referring to is the intake manifold, which consists of two separate pieces that sit onto of the engine. Your intake manifold probably has a plate on it that says "5.0 H.O."

Assuming you are talking about CAI's, I wouldn't really say that one is more advantageous than any one other. Some mass air meters are sold as a kit, where the company includes a new air filter, mass air meter, and CAI.

There have been 100's of opinions/answers thrown around on the same topic(s) you are researching. Try searching. That would probably yield the best answers.

ok. Stangs are just as easy to mod as imports and you get more power out of stuff than you would in a honda, trust me, all of my friends have hondas. I have a MAC cold air kit which looks nice, but a CAI (cold air intake) is not gonna do much for performance, it just sounds cooler and looks pretty. That C&L kit you showed me isnt a bad option

you beat me to it. i was about to write the exact same thing. :notnice:
and stallion welcome to the true muscle cars and our cars a lot more simple to mod than those damn imports. make your own cai or get the cheapest one you can find on e-bay. they really don't do much. i opted for the K&N densecharger ($90) for the sole reason that is comes with a K&N Filter.

Ok, just to tell every1 here, I'm an idiot who has a 5.0 and doesn't know didly squat about it. I just thought getting an intake would be the way to go. So, what could i get that would be under 300 that would increase performance and make my car sound cooler. I already have a flowmaster exhaust.

A good used Cobra or Explorer intake (same performance).

as far as cold air intakes go, i vote for just making your own...it may sound kinda "redneck" at first but here is a picture of mine

Welcome to world of American performance. The 5.0s are one, if not the, easiest engines out there to upgrade and performance tune. Hundreds of companies make parts for 5.0s and what you want to do to your Stang is only limited by the the endless parts, how much money your willing to spend, and how much research you do. This place by far has some of the most knowledgable minds out there from parts dealers, to drag racing pros, to "been-there-done-that" guys that you'll find.

I saw by the pics on your link that your parked next to an import. Upgrading is gonna be different than upgraded those pieces of crap simply because you got 4 more cylinders for one and most of your power can be achieved before you even have to upgrade to a power adder such as forced induction boost or NO2. I would definitely start by looking at some gears. It will definitely make your car 10 times more fun to drive. It's an automatic so I recommend some 4.10s for that back end. Those gears will leave all those Ricers at the light. More additions to your exhaust would be a good consideration for now. Consider an off road X or H pipe if you don't have to worry about emissions. Search the threads and I'm sure you can find plenty on gears and exhaust.

Welcome to Stangnet! :nice:

That one is just as good as the one on ebay. I haven't purchased one yet because of the fact that they don't do much. For $300 I would do an Mac off road H pipe from texasmustang.com $120-130 shipped and ASP underdrive pulleys from racenet.net for just under $100 shipped that's about $230. Save the $70 left over and go for a short shifter later. Or if you can get gears installed really cheap than go that route.

ebay all the way... mine's a no-name brand... and it works just as well as the MAC cold air induction system, but for 10% of the cost! :nice: mine was $35 on ebay brand new aluminum! after shipping, it was $42... compared to other's at $250+ or that K&N one... :nonono: they all do the same thing, so just get one that you like the looks, and spend $50... unless you really want to blow $300 on it... to make about 5rwhp. (rear wheel horse power)
