i was racing.......uh, driving next to a fellow stanger who has an AT catback and bbk o/r x-pipe, msd ignition, and a few other misc parts, and when he shifts into 2nd at high rpms, his car backfires every now and then. its one of the loudest things ive ever heard. it scared the crap outta me so i missed my shift and made me lose 
anyway, when it "popped", i swear i thought i saw a blueish flame coming out of the tailpipes for just a split second. what exactly is a backfire and what causes it?
