What is it about modding a stock block that gives out?

gotcha, the main thing i try to do when reading the articles is get a better understanding of how the things work, i don't pay too much attention to their numbers and what not, especially after reading how they tested the tried to make the bbk intake tests seem a lot better than they were.

youll be fine with 9-10pis and keeping its under 470ish rwhp. The stock internals will hold that for quite sometime. If you want to upgrade your stock internals then ur wasting your time unless u plan on upgrading the block along with it, or sometime down the road. Of course with boost your going to need all the supporting features, like more fuel, better airflow, ect ect. Simply slapping a SC on a stock application with net you 350hp if your happy with that. Some preventative maintenance would be to do a compression test on your cylinders, inspect all your seals, make sure its in a good overall working condition before adding hp.

I got a PTK turbo kit w/ a t67. You say you can go to like 10 pounds and keep it under 470 RWHP. But he has H/C/I where as I'm stock. So would I be able to run like 12-13 pounds with a holley intake, stock cam, stock heads, cometic head gaskets as long as I really don't go over 450 RWHP?

those are just guesstimates. I have no idea how many psi youll be able to run to achieve xxx hp. The only way to tell is a dyno, and i am in no way a human dyno.

No, I'm not asking for a HP estimate. I was just asking with better head gaskets, would I be able to bump the boost from 9 psi to like 15 psi max on the stock bottom end with a good tune. Let me rephrase it. Can I just keep bumping the boost until I hit like 450ish at the wheels as long as my A/F ratio is good. Not looking to spin it high at all either.

There are many turbo cars that live very happily at 500 hp, so yes, 450 is very tolerable. www.turbomustangs.com for all your turbo questions..

Slapping a Votech S-trim on my stock 1989 5.0L was the single (most expensive) best mod I made to the car. Made about 330rwhp with that.

Later, added TFS h/c/i for a comfortable 440rwhp. Ran it that way for a few years, and MUCH harder on a roadcourse (20 MINUTES of on/off full throttle, at a time).

Recently added a custom cam, and 525rwhp. WOW (and oops), lets back that off with a 7# pulley, and make "only" 498.3rwhp at 6K rpm.
So far so good... on 34,000 original HARD DRIVEN roadcourse mile stock shortblock.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
