What is the compression ratio for a stock 5.0?

I just wanted to know because my new motor has 9.2:1.....and i was gonna see what stock ones have...

I believe, 9:1.1, and 85 and older is 8.1:1

edit: Just looked it up, it's 9.0:1

For real? I don't mean to falsify your statement, but what proof do you have? I don't think they would over rate it, there isn't a purpose.

I don't know why they would either I have just read it in a couple mustang books that i have and heard it from other guys so I guess just reading and research, I do that alot to know as much about my car as I can so I don't talk about stuff I don't know, believe me I've put my foot in my mouth a couple times, but anywho it's what I've heard, if sombody else can give some info then I'll consider it, but I'll go back and try to see what books I've found it in and get back to ya

ok ok, I was thinkin of the 1980 model that had 8.8:1
here are the compression ratio's for the years
1979, 8.4:1
1980, 8.8:1
1981, 8.2:1
1982-1985, around 8.3:1
1986, 9.2:1
1987-1993, 9.0:1

Yup, thats what my Tech Reference & Perfomance Handbook says. I love this book, I've only had it for a week, but I've used it about 15 times, just for small things and misc. info

Heck ya, I've got Chiltons, I'm about to get the Haynes, I have the Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control, it's awesome, cause I had no clue how to work on electronically controlled engines, I was taught carbed engines. When I can scrape enough money, I'm gonna get the Official Ford Mustang Manual, I can't believe it cost $100.

hey where are you gettin your "official ford mustang manual" from? I was thinkin maybe through a dealership or somthin. I like my haynes better than the chilton. But I reall really want the official mustang manual, tells you everything you would ever want to know about tech stuff and specs.

Yeah, thats what we have, but I want the actual Ford manual. It's huge, like almost three times as thick as the Haynes or Chilton.

Yeah, I bought one those plus other manuals (including an EVTM) for my Escort through eBay, for $28 shipped.

I consider Chilton, Clymer, and Haynes bathroom material compared to Ford manuals. And I'm not talking material for reading.
