what is the correct distance between shock towers?

or "how long is the standard monte carlo bar from end to end?"

You see, I have an adjustable monte carlo bar and I can push the shock towers out (most likely what I want to do, but how far?) or pull the shock towers in towards themselves, which even I know is a "not good" thing. I recall a thread giving the correct dimensions and I think I saw 40 inches being mentioned. But that thread is gone. So can anybody tell me how far apart my shock towers should be on my 69 Mach 1?

I read 40, too. But unfortunately I cannot give you a reference to the 2-3 places I read it as I cannot find them now.... I also read it here somewhere. My car is the same as yours and my towers were @39... I spread them a wee bit w/a portapower as I have a non adjustable m/c-export brace.
I would measure for you, but I am nowhere near the car and not sure when I will be...

I remember a post where one person measured theres at 40", another 40 1/4", and another at 40 1/2". I'm not sure where exactly they measured from though. I've tried to start a post to get everybody to post there measurements several times but nobody wanted to cooperate.

The quick release monte carlo bars we manufactuere are cut to 40" if that helps.
I believe that is what the stock distance is.

thanks for the info. BTW, I really wish I knew of your company's existance BEFORE I shelled out a Ben and change for a ford racing billet spark plug wire loom. I will be ordering the radiator overflow asap though.
