What is the most laid back DEQ in Porland Metro?

My tags read 09/04, so I'm not sure if I have through September or til the 1st of September to get new ones. But even still, I'm going to take her in to hopefully a slack DEQ, and see if she'll pass on her own.

- No cats.
- No smog pump.

What do you think? I'm willing to give it a try..

The good part is your tags are good till the end on Sept. Lack of air pump should be no problem; cats will need to be on there as nothing else will take care of the NOx. If the cats are weak the egr can help reduce the problem as well. I do DEQ repairs everyday at work and we have to install new cats on about 30% of the cars that fail. The only way to test is to dyno it or use a portable gas analyzer and drive it in the drive cycle like they use. We use an OTC 4000 scanner with a 12 volt, five-gas analyzer with pretty good results. Cats will help if the noise exceeds the limit also.

You cant tune out the fact that there are no cats.....a deq tune for us is bolting on cats (we have them) and if needed checking and changing the tune to MAKE it pass. Then, putting it back to how it came in.

Wait, I didn't say your car will pass without cats. I think the way Jeff handles it is wonderful. What a great service they offer with their cats. The tune can get things pretty close but when you get it lean enough the NOx goes to the sky, so you need converters on your car. Sorry if it sounds otherwise in my first post.
