i am using an alternator of of a 91 5.0 tbird. does anybody know what type of alt. it is. is it the 3g alt. like the 94 and up mustangs have. it sure looks the same but i was told differently. how many amps does the 3g put out. i am going to hook up some electric radiator fans. i have no radio so that won't be wasting any power.will the tbird alt. if it is not the 3g alt., power 2 fans.

ramcharger, is that a brand name or is that the dodge ram charger ugly ass suv's. i already have 3 different fans from different vehicles. 1 is off of an 82 subaru and i am not sure what the other 2 are from. but i wanna use 2 unless 1 will work fine as i will test 1 and if it heats up i will go for 2.

how much is it, ya know. 1 of my fans is very powerful. it tries to fly away like a remote control helicopter when i am holding it. i could probably put a remoter sensor on it and fly it around the house if i had the need to. do you know anything about the alt. question though.

i wonder what my tbird had. it plugged right into my 89's alt harness. my 89 used to be a 4 banger before i got it. i finished the conversion. the tbird alt. looks just like my 95 stang's. they both have the grey regulator on the back and the exact same plugs as my tbirds. is it possible maybe ford made a different type that looks like the 3g.

you may have to explain a bit more in detail about what you just said. the alt. just plugged right in to the 89's alt. harness. the harness consists of 3 connectors. 1 big one that plugs on the rear of the alt. but on top. it plugs into the gray regulator. then there is a plug next to that that plugs to the alternator itself and it is just a little 1 wire plug. and then on the back of the alternator there is a stud where the battery power is bolted to. like i said it looks like the alt. on my 95 v6 mustang. if the 95 is infact a 3g and the alt. i am using on my 89 is not then all i have to do is go to the junkyard and get an alt. from a sn95 stang and simply plug it right in, right

the factory 89 only had 2 hookups.one on top and the one on the bottom.the bottom is for the voltage regulator and you don't have to change that.but a 3ga style alt. uses the bottom regulator plug but uses a stud and a small single plug in at the top(rectifier).a smaller amp 3ga will drop into the stock alt. bracket but the larger 130amp and bigger alt. requires grinding the bracket for it to fit properly.you would also need to add the larger charging wire or you will experience a wiring meltdown.

well here is another difference. i am using the top alternator bracket off of my 76 mustang II. and the bottom is off of a chevy. i use v belts. my 89 also used to be a 4 banger. is the 4 banger alt. different than the 5.0's alt. in 89. all i know is there is 3 hookups to the wiring harness that was already in the 89 when i got it without a motor or tranny. is it possible that somebody already did the 3g swap and left the wiring harness in the car and the 91 tbird's alt. just so happened to plug into the same wiring harness

it sounds like somebody already wired it for a 3ga but i don't think that a 91 t-bird alt.is the big 130 amp your looking for.it's probably a 90 or100 amp(still bigger than stock)if you add the 130 you need to go to pa -performances web site and get their upgraded wiring package.
