What is this connector? It is on the drivers side right next to my power steering filler. It goes into a wiring harness. Also you might be able to see in the first picture, why is power steering fluid on top of the cap? This car has not been run in over 6 months. Is it leaking out somehow?

You can just disconnect that at the connector further down, label it and save it.

Center of stock cap has a vent. Could have been some overflow from last time it ran. It shouldn’t “leak up”

If you turn the steering wheel without the pump running, it temporarily overfills the res. and fluid either goes out the vent or out under the lid. The small volume of the res. and the angle it is at is not the best design.
There’s also not much room for fluid expansion as it gets hot. Make sure you put the cap on so the vent hole is in the high side.
