What is that chirping noise under my hood?? Is it the water pump going out?? My car is running very hot.

I can't listen to your file but I also have a slight chirping noise with the clutch engaged (pedal released). I asked a Ford tech about it and he had me slightly depress the clutch which stopped the noise. He suggested it might be the throw-out bearing..

Just an idea.

Nope... I have an automatic.

well not the alternator...the noise and over heating don't necessarily have to be related. How much are you overheating by? Is it all time or just sitting at idle? How many miles on your car? what mods? There's kind of a lot to diagnoising a overheating issue

My guess would have to be the alternator. The one in my Ranger sounded like that before it went. I would pull the alternator off and take it up to Autozone, and have them put it in their tester, and listen for the noise in there. If you don't hear it, that's one thing ruled out.

my 02 mustang does that same kind of noise. it only happens when it rains. seems like that the belt slides back on the pulley and rubbs the front of the block. i don't know how it does it or why but all i have to do is take the belt off and turn it around and put it back on and the noise goes away everytime. call me crazy but the sound goes away. and also ford told me it was the belt one time when i took it in for that noise, cause i thougth it was the bearings in the idler pulley going bad. try it and see if it works i guess.
