what is yellow rectanguler box under d/s kick panel

i removed my driver side kick panel and there a box looking thing thats cracked and damaged it has two wide harness clips going into it, Im trying to find out what it is and if its inportant and also the cost cause its pretty banged up

if one of those wire harness goes out into fender wall...Im pretty sure its for your cruise control. At least thats what im guessing your talking about.

yea in that case ill just leave it or even take it out

If its yellow I would say its for the airbags but I see you have an 87 which doesnt have airbags so idk...
