just a little update.
i would have done a whole "How To",but i left my large sd card at home.

anyways,
a few weeks ago,i was finishing up my 3.73 install.
everything looks great.
pull the diff out for the final time to clean the marking compound off the ring and pinion.
thats done,go to drive the carrier shim in and it cracks

ok,i have spares but they are alittle too thick.
have to wait til the next day to machine it at work.
i have the shim pack that came with the rebuild kit,but i like to use solid shims.

clean up,drive back across town home, first i have to "get in the Zone" for some cheapo rear pads.
almost there,i'm smelling coolant bad.
in the parking lot,pop the hood.
i'm pissing coolant all over the place.

so i get the pads and what-not.
get a timing cover gasket set.
it's a good thing i had a cleaned up cover w/new seal installed at home.
6pm on a sunday.
get the cover at home, drive back accross town again.
tear it down and find this.
a hole in the cover, looks like the previous owner filled it with something

this is what i've been spending most of my time with.
3.73 gears,complete rebuild
got the housing with a wrecked 94 gt i picked up for a few hundred bucks.

all the brake components and axles were gone,PO used them for a 5 lug conversion on his Fox Body.
so i scrounged up the gt/v6 brake package at the local JY on a 1/2 off sale.
SableSal did me a favor and turned the rotors where he works.
nice and straight,thanks Sal

the next weekend,almost done.

cover on.

cant find the last bolt, back to the JY
grabbed some bolts, nice girl at the JY lets me have them for free

used shorter bolts,i did not reinstall the weight.

this time,i used ford rubber housing bushings.
also got the MM tool, made the job very easy.

yesterday, spent the entire day with the axle swap.
heres the old 3.27 coming out.

installed the upper battle box.
no weld,just bolt in.
if your gonna do this,i suggest you get some quality drill bits.
mine were kinda crappy,so it was a pain in the a$$ to install.
also wear goggles or a face shield when drilling under the car.

all that is done,
installed the SpeedCal.
set it,works perfect.
paced my GF's prelude to verify speed.

so far,i've put 40 easy miles on it.
giving it a couple hundred miles break in period.
on street and freeway,all's good.
no whining or abnormal noises.

BUT,it does not feel that much different.
granted i have not gotten on it at all yet.
would there be much of a noticable difference between the 3.27 and 3.73's?

i went with the gt/v6 brakes to give me time to save for the Cobra rear package, and girdle.
my cobra fronts are going to need to be replaced this year,so i figured i would do them all at the same time.

in the mean time,my next project will be an A/C delete.
i never use it,so its gonna come out.
plus,i need to get my windows tinted.
tints, and windows down should be enough to keep me cool.
