My 1988 Retired Arizona Highway Patrol Mustang, it has the exact same 5.0 HO with Oil Cooler and 130amp Alternator and Blue Hoses and 140mph certified speedometer. No other differences to the driveline.

What's the deal with lightbars? Are you allowed to keep them on the car even if the vehicle is no longer a police vehicle?

Someone near me has a restored 87-89 coupe with lightbar, bumper pusher, spotlights and such with the "Ford Police Vehicles" emblem on the side. I always wonder how he gets away with driving on the street with the blues up top

I can drive it with the lightbar as long as I have the red and blue filters out of the lightbar. They slide in the inside grooves in the clear plastic covers. Oklahoma law will not allow any vehicle with red or blue lights to be on the street. I only put them in for car shows etc.

Any problems with your local law enforcement?

I bet people really move out of your way ASAP.

I know here in NY STATE, there are tons of guys that are "firemen" with blue lightbars and flashing lights on their SUV's/TRUCKS.

Looks SWEET!

Thats pretty stupid. Surprised he did not write or memorize your plate number, then you would have gotten a nice surprise when you got home.

Yeah, that happened to me, all the cops know me, my aunt and uncle are sheriff deputies, and I was speeding about 90 in a 55, and a cop passed going the other way, but didn't turn around or anything, I thought I was off the hook when my aunt called and told me I was probably gonna get a ticket, but they talked to some people, and I was just given a warning. So I stopped driving fast, but I'll still pull up next to a cop and play with him, cause they like my stangs, they always pull over the ricers

here in mass the staties have at least one modular gt stang...i found out the hard way...i was in my stang doin about 75 down the mass pike when i noticed a blue stang comin up on me fast...the guy gets on my ass a lil and then gets into the other lane to pass....so im like i dont think so dude...and i haul on it...i get to like 105ish and then the dude gets behind me again and blows me up with the strobes...F**CK!!...the guy was cool though and he didnt even give me a written warning when i told him my father was a police officer in my home town...but he did make it a point to phone my dad who kicked my ass shortly after...also i raced my dad in his cruiser with my stang from a light to about 70 mph and i blew his doors completely off...but once the cops do catch up, and they will, your ****ed...pit manuvers suck...specially when your father thinks its funny to do it to your old beater mercury hatchback coming into the drive way...a$$hole!!

The only factory stock 600 to breaking 160mph is the CBR600RR, and that thing hits 161. The cutting edge 750 sportbikes barely break 170mph, and they're pushing close to 130rwhp. So, yeah, your speedo might have been reading 170mph, but your 600 wasn't actually going that fast unless you've got a shot of nitrous or a turbo on it.

Yeah my GSX 1000 has seen 191 on the speedo, but their speed limiter is at 177.

The crown vics are not fast at all. I ran one with a 2001 Impala police car 3.8 six cylinder and beat it. I think the 3.8 has 200 hp. I probably won cause of the weight advantage. I pulled approximately one car length from a rolling start and he could never pull on me up to about 100 mph where we let off. There is also a article from a couple years ago in some police magazine that states that the impala is slightly quicker than the crown vic from 0 to 100 mph. The Impala brakes and handles better too. This is my opinion from having seat time in both cars. I have to admit that I hate the Impala though.

The license plate says AZ DPS for arizona department of public safety.

I don't really care for 10 hole wheels, but they are correct for the car. Our other two SS stangs have aftermarket wheels and a few mods.
