What motor to drop in my 95 gt

What's up everybody. I need some guidance on what motor to drop in my 95 gt. I want an upgrade and I don't have the time to rebuild It the way I would like so what's my best/cheapest option. Keeping the tranny I was thinking a 95 cobra motor. Would that be worth it? What else would I need to make that happen? Ecu? callings these places that pull low mileage motors from wrecked cars and it sounds like I can get a replacement for budget.hiw do I know I'm getting the low mileage they claim? What about a semi built remanufactured long block. Those are reasonably priced on ebay??? Can't afford extravagant but a good platform for engine mods in the future. Not rich not a race car just my slammed out convertible need a beating heart

I would go with a remanufactured engine, whether push rod 5.0 or a 4.6 aluminium engine, some of those can be had used in good shape, they came in other fords/Lincoln,
Depends on your budget.
This is just my opinion and only my opinion.

That's been my initial thought with my budget pretty modest around 3500 I just need the best bang for my buck I would just hate to have had the opportunity to put something better in only to find out later it wasn't the right choice...thanks a tone

You're in California, so realistically another 5.0 is your best choice.

$3500 isn't going to go very far. Basically looking at a replacement engine.

Yes a 5.0 no doubt there are a tone of sellers that have semi pumped up remanufactured long blocks on ebay Anyone ever buy one and install it? What seller?andd finally does it run like you want? Will be buying soon some

I'm an engine snob, and all my stuff is done one of by this guy in Florida. However, there are several people on this forum that have bought engines from Creb Engineering and have had good luck with them.

I was an Advance Auto Parts Manger in a past life. I sold tons of those quick and cheap parts store engines over the counter, and never one come back with a problem. I mean they are pretty bare bones rebuilds though.

Im in the same boat atm . Parked my 95 for 10 years and am starting to refresh it . The engine is fine but has over 800k miles on it lol , drove it all over the country for work . Never changed a single gasket other than the rear main , twice . I really like this platform ,but for me , its just not up to par nowadays and cant be made that way without ALOT of money , I do not have . I looked and looked to find something suitable to my needs . I want a street car , not a strip car . I also want 500+ HP out of the box with the capability to bump up to around 1k Hp later once the car is built to handle it . Take a close look at swapping in a 351 . Not an east swap but the trannys bolt right up . There is soooo many options to go with once you start looking at 351's , for you , you need emissions control . So your limited on which build you can do , but also makes it easier for you to choose . If you just want to cruise around , then 5.0 all day long . You can pull 400 HP reliably out of them . No need to look at a cobra motor unless you want to beat it . And the 95 cobra motor was nothing special . Just grab a stock motor and take care of it .

He has to pass a California visual and tailpipe test. That won't happen with a 351.

Holy , I think you got you money's worth. You know Ford acknowedged some old lady for having 537,000 miles on a Mustang. You might want to look into that.
