Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order up the final parts that I'll need for my headswap. I've done this once before, but it was for ported E7's so I knew exactly what to get.

I'm going to the stud-mount AFR 165's (58cc) and I need to know which ARP headbolts to get as well as which pushrods to get. I was told I couldn't use the same head bolts that I used last time; apparently I need the ones that will fit a 1/2" hole instead of the stock 7/16." Some kind of washer or sleeve needed perhaps? What's the deal with that?

Also, I'm gonna order up a set of hardened chromemoly pushrods. I need ones that will work with guideplates....what's the best way to go there? I was thinking of going with Comp Cams but I don't see anything that will work with an 86-95 302.

Also, I still need a set of roller rockers and was thinking of going with the Comp Cams Pro Magnums. Are those a good choice or should I go with Harland Sharp? I've heard a lot of people run the CC Pro Mags with good luck. Whatever I get, I need the 3/8" version right?

Thanks guys...

Your pushrods remain stock length with the 165 heads:
Pushrods: Comp #7826-16 or premium 7917-16
Lifters: 851-16
Rockers: 1331-16

I used these head bolts - ARP Head Bolts - ARP-154-3601

Those were for AFR 165's/58cc studmounted/emission legal heads...

I use 6.250" Engine Works hardened pushrods (from Ed) and 1.6 Scorpion RR's...

If your studs are still the 3/8's you will want the 3/8's size. I upgraded mine with ARP 7/16's...

I reused the stock pushrods, but there were only 60k miles on them. If your cam does not have really aggressive ramp rates, the stock ones will hold up.

Getting hardened pushrods would be nice if you can spring for them because of the potential rubbing against the guideplates...

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
