I'm getting ready to install my AFR 165's, FTI cam, Performer intake, etc. I just noticed my stock radiator looks about worn out and I don't know what to replace it with. Will a new stock radiator keep a 300 RWHP motor cool? Or do I need to step up and upgrade it? If so, what should I get? Thanks.

I have no idea. I bought the car two years ago with that radiator and 75k miles on the car. It now has about 80k miles. It's been keeping the current combo cool(in my signature).

If your upcoming combo is gonna make 300HP, and if it's financially possible, get a new one. It could never hurt. I quickly realized mine had to be junked when I did the engine work the first time. The engine would constantly run at about 215. (High compression makes mucho heat, as many of you know.) If it's affordable, go ahead and get something nicer. Modines are pretty reasonably priced. Fluidyne and Griffin carry their own reputations, but they're more expensive. If you want a radiator/fan combo, check out BeCool. They make great 3-core packages at good prices. Hope that helps.

I've never heard of a worn out radaitor, but they do get coroded if the cooling system isn't cared for and even clogged. Anyways, the stock radiator is pretty sorry for something to have to cool a V8. I have the GoDan "pepboys" 3 core and it works fine, made a world of difference. Griffin, Fluidyne, Modine, BeCool are also good brands.

You know what I mean. Corrosion on the outside...rust in the tank. It works now, but I don't know how much longer it will last.

my temp goes from about 180 driving, to max 200 stopped for a while usually at idle it will sit at 195* but it depends if I was beating on the car or not, these temps are based on the pep boys 3core & mr. gasket 180* t-stat, I want to get a 160*, and need to clean my radiator since when I blew head gasket along time ago I think it's a lil clogged

Expensive compared to the $130 I would've spent on a new, 3 row, brass/copper unit with a lifetime warrenty.

Go to pep boys and get a brass 3 core radiatoe since your gonna replace the stcok one anyway.make sure you get a 15-18lbs cap with the pressure relief from "Stat" 50/50 coolant with some RedLine water wetter and you'll be fine.
