I have set my mind on buying a new set of Victor Jr's this winter. I am rebuilding the shortblock and want to make sure everything is SOLID for alot of miles. I dont want to reuse the Crane/Cobra rockers, but I also cant afford $500 for rockers.

I have been looking at Harland Sharp, Comp, and Scorpion 1.7 rockers.

Who makes the best rocker for the money, and should I go to stud mount or stay shaft mount?

Should I stay 1.7 or step down to 1.6? I dont know how much lift my cam has, but its supposedly a stage 2 crower blower cam.

I'll be running ~ 15psi out of my S-trim on a 347 with ~ 8.5:1 compression.

the amount off lift and the style off pistons you will be running are mojor factors in selecting rockers. see if you can dig up the specs on your cam. call tham and they might tell you. i doubt its a big secret. just tell them why you need to know. and also tell us what kind off pistons you are running and if they will have valve reliefs or not.

I'm actually impressed, just called Crower and the guy knew exactly what I was talking about. It has .507 / .507 lift (with 1.6's) and 246 / 246 duration at .050"

The pistons have one large valve relief in them, can take a pic if that helps. They are dished also for 8.5:1 compression with a 60cc chamber.

for the rockers, if you already have a shaft mount, and it will fit with the new heads then keep using it. unless you mean pedestal. otherwise go with stud mount heads if you have the option, preferably 7/16 over 3/8. the $200 price range i recommend scorpions, comps might also fit around this price range. i'm not sure where basic harland sharps come into price, but i would give them a shout, talk to randy jr. if u do. the $300 price range would be comp pro magnums. i have never used them myself. i think i would have at least tried them if i didn't go with custom Harland Sharp's for my Z304 heads.

Sorry I meant pedestal mount, thats what the Crane/Cobra rockers are. The Vic Jr's are 7/16" rocker studs, so thats good.

I dont mind spending the extra hundred or $200 if its worth it in the long run.

I'm spending $1300 on heads and probably a similar amount for the rebuild, so I'm not gonna skimp on anything.

I like my trick flow rockers for 7/16 studs. Mine don't make any noise and haven't given me any problems. Paid $240 for mine out of summit about 3 years ago.
