What should be next for my 96gt?

So I recently installed my O/R X-PIPE and catback and am looking at doing gears. My question is what will I loose in highway drivability Because I do alot of it and will my fuel milage noticable suffer I recently got 34mpg on my summer road trip but that was with my stock 2:73 I was thinking of 3:73 is this a reasonable choice for best performance and milage?

Maybe PI head Swap!!!!! Or if ya dont want to spend that kind of money, Go with 3.73 Ford racing gears.....you will still get good gas milage and great performance......

Another gear thread????????? :p

Check out the two sticky threads ("x.xx gears in daily driving") in this forum before you make your choice.

My choice would be 3.73s.

EDIT: there is also a modification survey thread you should read, too.

First of all, there's no way you got 34mpg. Unless of course you had a hurricane force tail wind and were going downhill the whole time. That being said, I got rid of my 2.73's for 3.73s also. Didn't notice more than 1 mpg difference in mixed driving. What's nice is that now on the highway at 55, you can go right up to 75 effortlessly and leave the car in 5th gear. BTW: You will get to use 5th gear (overdrive) much earlier ~ 47mph.
