What should i do???

I will be getting a completly stock 93 GT this week and I need to know what I should do first. It's going to be a DD but i want to be able to take it to the track as well. I was thinking of Exhaust, Cobra intake, new heads(maybe?). I just need some advice because this will be my own this time and not just helping my brother when he had a 91 gt vert. I'll post more pics when i get it.
These are from the guy that I'm buying it from:

clean gt. its got a cobra rear bumper, and looks like it has springs. as far as first mods, everyone has their own opinions but gears, exhaust, subframes, shifter, that kind of stuff. remove your air silencer, bump your timing, all free stuff you can do.

thanks i got it for 3500. the guy didnt have the title in his name(was in his uncle's) so when the title comes back in a week ill get it. six months ago the guy's wife hit a baby doe and did some small damage: broken front bumber, fog light brackets bent back, radiator mess up, etc... but he got it completely re-painted. it hasn't even been washed since the paint job and only been driven three times and sat in his garage. the interior is immaculate, except the drivers seat which has some wear-n-tear and of course the ash tray cover is broken :( but the passenger and back seats look like no-one has ever sat in them . still has original clutch and shifts perfectly at 120,000 miles.

Get subframes first, theyre cheap and will keep the car from twisting as you add power. Id say after that do the exhaust then tear into the motor. Once you get the motor built to where you want it to be THEN get a gear for it. Youll notice that the more power you have the less of a gear you will want because a 3.73 or a 4.10 is just not streetable (especially in bad weather) when youre pushing 300+rwhp. The more hp you have the less gear you want. I got one of my cars running 13.0 flat with a 2.73. Then I only went to a 3.27, it would kick out on the 2-3 shift @ 65/70 (thats just a guesstimation as the speedo didnt work). And that was plenty for a daily driven car, cuz I could still cruise @ 70/80 with out spinning 4500.

yea
the fog lights are deff. a first. all i need to do is bend the brackets back down and buy 1 light(he kept the other one that wasnt broken).

deff exhaust i think i found my favorite setup
YouTube - Flowmaster Force II's vs Flowmaster Super 44's
and i'll go with a 3" chrome straight tips(my brother got them with his 91 w/ a cobra bumber which looked nasty until he changed them to a 2.5" setup)

but subframes? how much $ and how hard is it to switch out? i'll talk to my brother he was on here everyday when he had his Gray 91 gt Vert and seems like he knows just about everything

- Ive had 10 foxbody mustangs thats all the research I need. Im not talking 300hp, its 300 REAR WHEEL HORSE POWER. So lets say at 25% drivetrain loss thats 375 at the crank, k thanx. Ever drive a 375HP 5.0 in 6 to 8" of snow? Now tell me you want a 4.10....This car is supposed to be his DD NOT a track car. ANd since its going to spend 99.9% of the time on the STREET its more important for the car to be SAFE, especially for a NEW mustang owner. SO therefore he little to no experience driving squirly RWD cars. Are you guys trying to get him to wreck his car? I used to love racing cars that were all geared out, while theyre wasting time on shifts I walk away. Im not saying hes going to be driving in snow, but even in wet weather, its A LOT easier to lose control of your car . Ive known lots of mustang fanatics over the years and MOST of them have wrecked in bad weather do to loss of control at higher speeds when their cars were geared so steep.

Trust me on this, BUILD THE MOTOR FIRST. Then when you decide that you want a gear you probably wont go as radical as you would when its stock. Since in stock form mustangs are fairly heavy and pretty slow, a gear does help out a lot for a noticeable acceleration improvement. But in the long run how many gear sets do you want to swap out? Personally I hate the smell of gearlube, I only like to do it once and forget about it. Aside from that Im not a 1/4 mile fan, its ok and all but the cars actually suck for driving. No sidewall slicks out back and 3" wide front tires, no thanks I prefer to bang corners at 140 than go in a stright line......1/4 mi. IMO is a no skill race, other than reaction time. I dont care if you all flame me for sayin it, there no skill until your in the 9sec range, then the suspensions so crappy you have to do all you can to keep your bucket going straight. Thats no fun.

Stiffen the chassis first especially if its a DD and do the free HP mods. Stiffening the chassis may not sound fun, but the fox wasnt the stiffest ship on the fleet and they're not getting any tighter with age. I just installed a 4 pt K-member brace last night and I already like it, and I have a Maximum Motorsports strut tower brace on order (one of the few designed correctly) and I'll get subframes soon. Believe me you’ll want a good strong foundation to build on.

Then get a catback with some nice straight chrome pipes for that Cobra bumper. :nice:

Hell yeah I know everything!!

wow bitchass, you posted on my ****!!! SN meet my little bro. David, I have some SFCs in the basement we can weld on, plus we'll throw my kit on it when you get the cobra intake. Plus those split 5 wheels you can have and the 5 lug rear axles, you'll have to buy the front swap stuff that I can help you pick out and one other wheel to replace the rashed one.

This kinda sucks though b/c if I knew 2 months ago you wanted a 5.0 I would have bought my car back and we could have built a sick hatch with all the ***** I got left over.

300 to the wheels eh? how about you take that up with half the people on the board pushing more than that running either of those two gears? and i dont think anyone in their right mind would drive a fox in 6-8 inches in the snow. i dont care how many cars you've built im not agreeing with you.

to the op: good luck on getting things started, your bro knows what hes doing. just dont do anything stupid.

I agree

I've driven cars with a lot more and a little less than that power number and never had issues with 3.73s or 4.10s, even in rain.

The OP lives in GA, they don't get 8" of snow in the deep south!!! Just an FYI. I've driven 3.73 equipped 5.0s in 6-8" of snow as well, its better than an open differential 4cyl I can assure you that! :D

I run 3.73s, get great gas mileage, and run fine on the street and the track, but I haven't owned 10 fox's myself, so not sure if you should trust me.

either 2.73s or 3.08s. We're going to do this car right. No more messing around with bolt ons, it took me forever to make power. We'll go to the JY and get a rear end out of an f150 or similar so you can have some beefy axles(31 spline, stock is 28 and tend to not hold up so well on slicks) Then you're saving your pennies for a turbo kit. Thats it I have decided it. But we can hook that kit up for the time being and use whats left in that bottle so you can romp up on some LS1s... 3.73s are what I had and that's what we'll use on this car too. It just really sucks considering I JUST did all this on my car now we are starting fresh.

Snow... what the **** is that??
