i took my brothers car to get an oil change for him and they tryed selling me an engine flush it cost like 90 bucks and they use some machine to do it i told the guy naw its not my car i dont think so

he probably means coolant flush.. either that or an engine de-carb. both are highly recommended by stang976 himself

no it was a bilstein engine flush machine wasnt coolent the guy said i needed to clean out the motor that there was steel shavings in my oil i checked the oil after and it was perfectly clear

DO NOT do an engine flush! If the car is fairly new and the oil gets changed frequently, you don't need it.

If the car is older, oil changed or not, you'll wish you never had it flushed when it starts leaking oil from the mains, valve covers, etc.

Engine oil system flush is just a BAD idea for your driver!

yeah, i believe it sounds good to do. i've heard the same as well. especially good with high mile engines.

That the reason why I stopped going to those "quickie lube" places they try to sell you over priced $h!t that you really don't need. The first and last time I bought my stang to a place like that they charged me $45 bucks for an oil change!!! I was like WTF??? I asked them why so much? and they said that 0W20 is "canned oil" and it costs more. Then he had the nerve to try to sell me some other usless $h!t after robbing me. I was like "thats the last time you guys take me for a fool" So from now on I pay $19.99 for 5 quarts Mobil 5W30 and 3 bucks for a Morotcraft oil filter. Moral of the story stay away from places like that.

i was having my engine oil changed at one of these "quick lube" places as well and i needed some other fluids changed so I said..."go ahead". I had my engine oil, tranny oil and differential oil changed.

They ended up putting engine oil in my differential. I found out a year later when I was swapping my gears out cause they were fu*****!

waste of money and can blow out seals if the engine has alot of miles on it...it makes leaks worse also

one of my friends took his camaro to one of those places they put oil in his radiator resavor and windshield fluid resavor also. I laughed but it must to suck to be him.

To be basic, an engine flush is a process when they take your motor and run it while running an alcohol based additive through your oiling system with the old oil. They then remove that oil and put new oil in, thereby cleaning the engine of any built up deposits. The last time i checked, alcohol has zero lubricating properties, thereby putting you engine in harms way if you flush it out as they say.

Regular 3,000 mi oil changes do the same exact thing. Your oil already has plenty of cleaning additives in it, and believe it or not, but if you change your oil regularly, maybe early if you know the engine is really dirty, you will clean your engine from all these deposits.

Seriously though, I'd hate to see anyone go have it done to their 'higher' mileage Stang if I could have stopped them.

I'm an old timer, my Dad owned a gas station when I was a teenager, so I learned a LOT of things.

Most recently however, involved an 'Engine Flush Special' and my '89 Eddie Bauer Bronco with 98k on an otherwise perfect engine. I ended up trading it in because of the ensuing main seal damage.

When I was young, I accidently put a quart of auto. trans. fluid in a customer's engine. It was a big '61 Plymouth with who knows how many miles on it. It started leaking oil from EVERYWHERE. He had to buy a new car. He ribbed me for years!
