i just ordered fr500 wheels for my stang and im ready to buy tires. im gonna get some 315/35/17 for the rear...i pretty much have no choice when it comes to the profile in that size...the front however i have a few more options. i was thinking of having 255/40/17 or 255/45/17 up front. which one will match better with the tire profile in the rear?? i dont wanna end up with a low profile rear tire...then a balloon tire up front. ride quality is not too much of an issue but i wanna fill in those wheel wells as much as i can. theres also the other option of going 275/40s. what do you guys think?!

I guess it depends on driving style, spring/shock combo and differences from car to car. The 275/40's can rub in front on the sway bar during tight turns, as well as top of weel well. Before I get blasted I know many people run this combo with no problems, but dont be all shocked and amazed if you do have rubbing issues. Same as with the 315's in back, they can rub on the exhaust pipe. I run 255/45 front and have seen some slight rubbing, and I know I cant go bigger than my current 285/40 rear without moving the tail pipes. I run Eibach Sportlines and do some auto-x and open track with my car.

most people run 275 front and 315 rear. I have 275s on my 9 wide front rims with no clearance issues

So should Ford recall the 03/04 Cobras being they have 275/40's on the same front end as a GT because it rubs for a safety reason?

I have had 275/40's on 3 different Mustangs with no rubbing or clearance issues. I don't know what to say.

i have a feeling that its only lowerd stangs that are so low that they screw up the suspension, i.e. 2+ inch drops.
