New here, looking to buy a Mustang convertible and seeking advice. Which would be a better way to, a 94-95 GT or a newer 99-02 model. Comparing with both models having similar miles and condition. Not looking to build a monster car just a few light mods to have some fun with. Looking to spend $5-$7000. Also want a 5 speed car. I have owned in the past a 72 Mach I 351CJ,4speed car for 11 years, a 86 GT Convertible and a 96 GT convertible. Been away from Mustangs for a few years and wanting to have some fun again. I know I'm in the 5.0 section so you guys might be partial but Thanks in advance for any advice.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

It's a matter of opinion. They are both great cars. I personally like the sleaker look of the 94-98 cars, but that's entirely up to you.

if your only doing a few go fast mods then the 99-04 will be a better platform. if your looking for style and easy of repairs, 94-95 all the way

Prokiller does have a good point. But i think sn95 are far more fun to mod and work on but thats just my opinon. Plus where I'm from its rare to see a clean sn95.

Forget the 96-98 GT's I have one and it's not worth it. I added PI heads and other small little stuff to make a little difference. I also have 95 GT convertible that i enjoy.

Get the 2002-up GT(main reason being stronger trans) or 96-98 Cobra(4 valve with poopy trans) OR get 94-95 5.0 and you're set <---94-95 5.0 will break often so get used to it and be Patience Patience)

if you are going to leave it mostly stock, i'd go with the 99+, simply because they are younger and out of the box have more power. i had a mostly stock 2001 vert before i got this 95, and i loved it. i'd probably still have it (and not this 95) if it wasn't for that 16 year old girl who turned in front of me in 2003 and totalled it.

i love my 95 as much as the next guy, but .... well, there isn't much stock left to it.
