What to do with $4000?

I have $4000 to spend on my 03 GT that is stock. What should I do with all that money without supercharging it. Thanks.

You have 4 grand and you don't want to supercharge it? If that's the case, save it.

These cars (4.6 liter equipped) respond so greatly to forced induction, it seems to be the only viable long-term choice for increased power. Throw every bolt-on at it you want, but your best hp/dollar bang is with a blower setup.

I have to agree. If you are absolutely certain you want to spend (waste) it on your car, then go blower. Only say that because how often does the chance come up to spend 4k all at once. The rest of that bolt-on stuff can be bought for a few hundred here and there as you save it up. Once you do all the bolt-on stuff, you'll just wonder why you didn't supercharge in the first place and save yourself all the hassle. Look on these boards, how many of the N/A Club have dropped their membership in the last few months?!?

I'd do exhast, heads, and some big ass cams that sound mean as hell, and a tune. But then again, I really just love that sound. Maybe save the rest...stocks, mutual feunds

Mind informing us as to why you don't want to go the blower route? If you eventually want it to put down decent amounts of power without raping your obviously non-empty wallet, blowing it is the most affordable way to increase the power. If you eventually plan on blowing it id either save that money up, put it in a CD or something so you can earn mint $$ and then purchase a fully built block that'll be able to handle all the boost in the world, then blow it. If you NEVER plan on blowing the car, id still put it in a CD or high yield savings account (ING) and let that build interest until you know what you want out of the car, then inform us what you want power-wise and such and we'll be able to better inform you as to what you should get.

if you don't want to s/c it (i see absolutley no logical reason why you wouldn't) i'd buy all the usual stuff

springs, 18's, gears and exhaust. all the nickel and dime stuff (bolt-ons) is kind of a waste imo

or just have the car for what it is and save the rest. is the car paid off?

Best N/A setup if your set on it, would be

Patriot heads ($1200)
VT stg 2 cams ($600)
BBK ceremic LTs ($500)
VRS O/R X pipe ($200)
Magnaflow catback ($350 on partshopper.com with code magna454)
Trick flow plenum ($140)
BBK throttle body ($180)
JLT RAI ($175)
March U/D pullys ($140)
FRPP 4.10s ($180)
Thats about $3700.

Use the rest for all oils required, gaskets, and any bribes to get your friends to help you do all that.

You should also save up and take it to a tuner for about $600....and you will have around 310-315RWHP.

OPTION B.

Buy a mongoose vortec kit from www.modularpowerhouse.com .

Around $4000 and you will put down around 350RWHP with the supplied tune....all you have to do is install the S/C and tap the oil pan with the included insctructions and hardware. Easy as pie and WAY less hassle.

N/A is FUN, but on these cars...iv come to realise that there isnt enough CI to make alot of N/A power on these cars unless you want to spend BIG money and have a tone of time invested....best bet on these motors is FI (forced induction)
