What to use for cleaning rims

i was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on something to use when cleaning the bullit style rims. i was thinking something gentle enough not to ruin the gray color, but strong enough to get rid of that brake dust. any suggestions?

Meguires Hot Wheel cleaner or whatever its called.
Its safe enough for crome, alum, alloy, or painted wheels.
Thats what I use on my powder coated wheels.

I use this stuff called "FastWax" it's a spray on wax. It works wonders on my car and my rims. Good stuff. Ithink they have a website which is fastwax.com. Check it out.

Yes, be sure to keep those rims waxed as the dust won't stick so well. I use soap and water on mine mostly.

I just use soap and water. but thats probably because i clean my car so much

you may think i'm crazy, but i use windex. i have polished wheels & it really works well with them, so i wouldn't see why it wouldn't work well with painted rims

Windex works because it has ammonia in it. Ammonia is caustic (but not a lot) which helps to break up the oil and grease. On your rims I don't see why it would hurt...I have used in on the brights areas of my deep dish bullets. It may pull wax off painted rims, though, but so will all the other cleaners.

Eagle 1 wheel cleaner...the bright orange bottle...great stuff.

Yeah- Use Eagle 1 A to Z wheel cleaner. Works well but is mild enough not to hurt your high $$$$ rims.

I do the same thing. I wash my car every 4 or 5 days. Soap, water and a little bit of rubbing will do the trick, but I almost never have anything on the rims. Don't know why....my rims (bullets) just don't collect that much brake dust and dirt.

:OT:You haven't seen dirt on rims till you try to wash an M3. My dad's rims on his 01' M3 are by far the worst rims i've ever washed. 2nd day after a wash and they already have a thick layer of brake dust on them. I spend nearly 10 min on a single rim to hand wash them (most of the spray on cleaners don't get the job done).

Yep, I just use soap, water, and elbow grease to clean them

spray away glass cleaner!! no ammonia either so i shouldnt hurt the paint or finish it just makes them shine

You never wax aluminum rim. Leaves a dull coating on them. Alway use aluminum/mag cleaner like mothers.
