What to use to paint hood scoop????

I am putting a boss 429 style scoop on my hood to cover up the air filter which now sticks up thru it.

I was told to use bumper and trim satin black..........well I sprayed it and it looks like crap!

What does everyone use for scoops???? Flat Black????

Find a good semi-gloss paint and use that... just something that covers well and you should be fine

krylon has a good semi flat black, you can get it at walmart (imagine that) and its about as close to factory as you can get with a spray bomb... the krylon # is 1613.

Semi gloss, semi flat or satin will all look good. Just don't buy the cheapest rattle can that you find....get a name brand. I also use a primer first.

I put a '69 Mach 1 CJ scoop on my '67 and painted it satin black. This is just for the time being, paint is next up on the list... I'll see if I can find ya some pics.

It was painted with Ford engine bay paint. Semi-gloss flat black. NAPA and Kragen both carry it.
