what to use to pull steering wheel?

Jegs doesnt have a puller but my dad said I could just pick up a harmonic balancer puller from any parts store. Any suggestions on that or just any general suggestions for me to swap on my new Grant wheel?

if it's a foxbody..it's really simple. autozone will let you use there......takes about 5 to 10 minutes if that.

After you remove the bolt, rethread it back on just a few threads. Then grab the wheel with both hands, brace your feet and pull back with one, even, pull. The wheel will pop off and the bolt will not allow it to smack you in the face.

I have removed my steering wheel 3 times and I did it by hand every single time. I'm not the strongest guy in the world, so if I can do it, you can do it.

ok, I may try to get it done tonight. It has just been so freaking hot and humid out that I haven't felt like doing much of anything to the car. The other day I just had to change my clutch cable and by the time I was done I was completely drenched with sweat...this weekend is gonna be rough...I am gonna get the rear upper/lower arms, springs, shocks, and 5 lug stuff on and then next weekend do the front.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TIRES STRAIGHT WHEN YOU PULL THE WHEEL OFF!!! If you dont you are gonna have to put the new wheel on, straighten them, pull it off and then put the steering wheel back on straight.

Loosen the bolt half way and then put a socket over the bolt and hit it with a hammer. This works every time. Or just hit the middle of the bolt with a quick blip of the air hammer. Usually the first hit, it's off.

Get yourself one of these: STEERING WHEEL PULLER

Any parts store should have one, and it'll save you time and the possibility of damaging something. I just swapped out my steering wheel, and this made it a 15-minute job.

Not a bad idea but i'd be cautious about doing it with a tilt wheel....you might screw up the column. I'd just hit up autozone for the free rental.

I thought the steeringwheel could only go on two ways, correct and 180* out. There are two flat spots in the splined shaft, so you can't put it on just slightly askew.

If I remember you are right, but there is enough play between the shaft and wheel that it will be noticeably off unless you mark the wheel/shaft first.
