No special Tool need, Just a Drill Bit and a NPI Tap for whatever size hole you are doing.

You need to tap ABOVE the oil line...So drill the above the oil line with the Drill bit, the tap the hole with the NPI Tap...Use Vaseline on the Tap to keep metal shaving at a minimum.

When you are done with the tap, drain and change the oil....this will remove any shavings that got into the oil.

How about the shavings from the drill bit? They will be super fine and you will never get them all out of there. On my vortech you punch it out until its almost big enough then tap it. Plus if you punch it pushes the metal back in and gives you more material to thread. This way you have less of a chance for leaks. Plus when you're tapping you want the clean off the grease periodically and re grease it to help insure there's shaving going in the pan

Thats why you do the drilling and tapping of the hole with all the oil still in the pan... This way any shavings will just fall in the oil and be drained out.

Not to my motor you wouldn't, and of course you change the oil when you're done regardless..

Drilling it, is incorrect way to do it, the metal pieces are microscopic, and you will not get them all out. Plus you are supposed tap the front of the pan, where there's very little oil. The vortech site says do not drill the pan. Plus the pan is thin, and there's hardly enough material to tap if you drill.

Why even grease the tap your just going the oil when you done anyway? There are places for metal to get trapped in the pan like around where the baffles and the crank crapper are welded to the bottom of the pan.

This is from vortechs site and a drain is a drain.

They thread starter can do what he wants, but I highly reccomend not drilling the pan while it's still on the car.

I wouldnt/didnt drill either! You need that material you push in with the punch to tap. An oil pan isnt thick enough by itself to drill and tap, you would need some sort of additional metal to support the threads.

If you want to spend the 26 buck on that punch, go for it. I made mine with a grinder and a piece of rebar.

I thought P600B's were self contained?

Any ways...the shop that installed and tuned my Mustang Cobra taps them. I watched them do it to a couple while I was hanging out there after work. They start with a small punch and work their way up. Keep the punch square and be patient. Then they run a tap through it. Knock on wood....but I have been supercharged for 15K and 5 summers with no trouble or leakage.
