You might be able to get away with a stock T5 froma 1990 and newer as they have stronger internals, a good shifter and clutch. If you step up to the TKO, you'll need a different bellhousing.
If you're just granny shifting the stock trans will last a little while but I highly recommend going with a tremec/G force-A5 built T5. Stock t5 's are brittle and do not like speed/power shifting. It will break. Just a matter of when
