When the time and money comes to rebuild, my motor, I might go with a 351W block and stroke it to 393 or something.

If I could find one cheap at a junkyard, that would be great.

What trucks out there have a 351W roller motor?

Only blocks thats were roller are 94-96 F-150's and F250s, and Vans with the 351W 94-96 also. Block near the starter the id tag with be F4TE

Nothing before 94 was roller on the 351W's. You may and I mean may find a late late 93 with a 94 block but its rare. I bought my 96 Block at a Ford Truck Junkyard here in ohio complete from pan to inakte for 300 bucks. He sells cores for 100 but there need bored. So I took the Stock Good block and cleaned up for a backup and got the Core and had it bored 30 over for the 408.

several of the gen1 ligtning guys on the NLOC have found rollers in there 93's IIRC.

just look for the f4te like posted. Dont tell the yard why you want that kind of block...just look around before you get dirty.

my 408 i did not mess with the K-member. Mine is just the same as any other S351 saleen. I set the engine back and inch and am using Saleen Modified Motor Mounts. Right now i'm going to remove them and use stock mounts and see what happens. Also i'm not using the TrickFlow Intake. I'm using an Edelbrock 351W Lower with the Performer RPM upper. and I have lots of clearance so thats why i'm thinking of using stock mount instead of the Saleen Mounts and save them.

BTW I updated my signature for ya.

per your sig, your 408w 1994 has been on blocks for 2 years. why?

You can use Vans and Box Vans from 94-96 All Should be roller. No cars that I know of between 94-96 Came with the 351W except the Cobra R.

Reason my car has been on jackstands for 2 years is because when I got it, it came like the picture I attached. After i got the Body fixed and everything. I went with the complete Saleen Body kit. Right now working on a deal for a real S351 Hood, have the Kaenen now but not happy with it. Plus i had to convert the interior to black. Do a 5spd to 4R70W Swap, Build the 408, Get the SuperCharger. Then make a completely custom wiring harness since I will have no distribtor and will be runnig coil on plug. I still need to make to brake lines because I deleted the ABS and i'm not just going to Tee the connectors the cheap way. Going to make all new lines. Plus i re did the engine bay and smoothed it out. Plus collecting alot of rare and hard to find parts. Which include a 94-95 Saleen 200MPH Instrument Cluster, 94-96 Saleen S351 Motor Mounts, Now last items I need is a set of 18x8.5 and 18x10 Speedlines which i'm in the process of buying and I just lost on ebay for a 94-97 S351 upper Intake. But no big deal on the intake i'm running the performer RPM. Just wanted the intake for my collection.

using an EDIS8 Module inplace of the TFI module, Modified a V6 Cam Position Sensor, Made my own harnesses from a V6 EEC Harness and an 03 GT Injector Harness So I had the connectors for the CoilonPlugs. Then took a Explorer Damper and had the Trigger Wheel Pressed off and made my own setup to mount it on the 408's Balancer, then used a Explorer Crank Sensor. All controlled by the Stock Computer and Tweecer. Now granted this is being used as a Waste Spark Setup. But my next one I do will run a 99+ OBD2 Computer or AEM.

Didn't police cars (Crown Vic's) come with a 351 roller? That would be a difficult find now though, I guess.

"How to identify the 351w in the JY or swap meet."

The way to discern between a 302w and a 351w is very easy. (1) Identify the valve cover style. VC shape and bolt pattern is identical to the 302w. (2) The intake manifold on a 351w is about 9.5" wide (I use my hand from pinky tip to thumb tip as the span to identify w/o a tape measure), from bolt head to bolt head on the front of the manifold. The 302 is only about 7" wide, there. (3) If the block has the timing cover cast into it and canted valves in the heads, it is a 351 Cleveland. (rare=expensive parts.) 351M/400 blocks have wider valve covers and canted valves like the 351C. Also, all "smallblock" 302/351's (All Windsors, most later 289's) have the top two bolts for the transmission spaced about 6"-7" apart. Big blocks ("385 Series"--351M/400/429/460) have them spaced about 8-9" apart.

Good luck with your search! Good luck with your build!!!!!

By the time the roller 351 came out the crown vic had been a 4.6 for a year or two.

As far as the conversion I would try a search on NLOC.net, I know some of those guys have done it and you will prob. find the part numbers/cost needed. IMHO if would just be easier to find a roller block even if you end up paying a bit more as the conversion is like 400-500$ without a cam and that cam will still have to be a small base cirlce cam. Holding out and even paying 200$ more over a non-roller is money saved and you still get to work with all the cams that work in any roller motor.

Actually, you CAN use a roller cam in a "non-roller" block. Aftermarket companies are making "drop-in" roller lifter conversion. They aren't much more expensive than the replacement OE ones. The cam and lifter bores are the same, either way. You'll have to drill/tap a couple of holes in the lifter valley, if you want to use the OE style spider and lifters. You have to have a spider for the 351w, to span the lifter valley.

I could have swore there is an issue with the larger base circle roller cams and use with the non-roller 351 block. The drop in conversions are in the hood' of 400-500$ and again I could have swore they need to have a small base cirlce roller cam.

Also the roller "ready"/f4te already have the holes tapped and you can just put the spyder bolts right in.

Blackvert- that CHP thing sounds like a great deal...I went over and over doing it myself or going CHP/DSS. Its a hard deal to beat. I vote the longblock for 4k. My buddy put on a set of 185afr heads on his 94 lighting that has my stock mustangs cam in it (did the roller swap in his f4te block) and that thing is an animal. I think a ported gt40 (if you want some pics of my thumper worked 40's let me know) is just not enough for a 393 though. I mean at that point AFR185's and some of the TFS heads are not enough. It would still run better than the 302 though:D
