Hey everyone...just an update. I've been MIA for a while (anyone even notice?) due to work and stuff, but i'll be back after a while with some updates. I recently (finally!) scored some 16'' ARE/Saleen rims and got some BFG DR's for the back, and i'm working on stripping my interior for a refreshening. I've got the carpet all torn out and i'm working on stripping the sound deadening off the floor pan and then just for kicks i'm gonna have it weighed again to see what kind of weight i dropped from all the carpet and insulation. Hopefully in the next few days i'm gonna get my doors swapped on and then start working on body work and prep for paint! Stay tuned.

No some of us haven't noticed . The wheels sound nice post some pics of those when you get a chance. I wonder how much weight pulling all that sound deadening really weighs? sounds like a fun project though.

Well i got it weighed again today, this time without all the crap in the trunk and with a 1/2 tank of gas, it clocked in at 2890lbs. Last time i estimated that without all the crap in the trunk it was around 2840 so i was a bit off but i'm still happy with where it's at. I'm gonna work on getting it down under 3k with me in it but that might not happen with the Saleen/ARE's on it. Last time it weighed 3190 with me in it and with the carpet stuff and tools in the trunk and with Welds on it which weigh a lot less than the 16s.

Also it turns out that it's not getting paint afterall...not yet anyways. I'm gonna do some body work and probably reprimer it again :(

I'm not on my PC so i can't get pics but i'll work on that soon. It looks a lot meaner :D

Well here's a little update. I got a set of doors that i thought i was set on using and even went so far as to put them on but now i'm not happy with them and i'm going with a different set of '87+ doors. They're power window/lock and i'm converting them over along with converting the outside trim over to the '79-86 style and once all that is done i'll post a thread in Tech for a how-to (since i've posted asking how it's done 100 times and nobody could help).

Also i lowered the back some...i cut about 1 1/4 coils off the back (Eibach Pro Kit springs) because for 4 years now it's had the "rake" and i can't stand it. So, now it sits almost perfectly level which is what i was shooting for.

Lastly i mentioned before that i started gutting the interior (mainly the carpet and sound deadening) and i've got a few pics of how that's coming along. The plan right now is to clean it all out and smooth over the seam sealer and then paint the whole floor pan with black Chassis Saver and probably leave it at that until i find carpet that i'm happy with.

Oh, i also made it out to the track finally with the BFG Drag Radials. It was a good and bad day....good because i made my best pass to date, but bad because it cost me my traction lock and i was still spinning (i think there's still a half second left in it) and the track shut me down for not having a helmet so i couldn't better it. I'll rebuild it and try again.

Here's pics (before i lowered it):

These are the before pics of the floor pan before i scraped 90% of that crap out. It's a lot cleaner right now but i don't have pics yet.

And here's a clip of the pass that killed my traction lock. My buddy mentioned that i was doing the one-wheel-peel earlier but i thought it was because i didn't hit the water well enough...turns out the extra grip of the DR's was just too much for the 23 year old diff.

Yeah most likely black. All the chrome is going bye bye too. Right now it's got burgundy redish doors on it. I started sanding down the front too and spot primered a couple spots so it's reeeally ugly right now. I'm probably going to buy a spray gun and do it myself. BTW that side shot up there is before i put the drag radials on the back. The first pic has them on it.

Thanks folks :D

I've still got the passenger door to get on and then it's bodywork time and then at the very least it'll get put in flat black again.

I went racing with a friend of mine who has a 350 S10 that has 12s written all over it but he won't drive it hard enough to get it there so it's only ran 13.20s. From 50-100mph i pull on him real hard...i can't wait to get my heads and cam on it

Looking good, and decent times at the track. I think the reason the traction lock went is because of the lack of water. Yeah, there was water there, but probably not enough, and you pulled really far out of it. It's the same at the track we go to, especially on a street night. The t-loc will usually work fine on the street because it's an equal and pretty slick surface. But at the track, If you pull out of the water box up where you were, the track is sooo sticky there. So if one of your tires has more water on it than the other, and one is dry on a prepped track, that's a recipe for t-loc no worky. We all know t-locs suck to begin with, and they basically need semi equal traction on both tires to work correctly. Your t-loc could be in perfect condition, but a situation like that will easily make it not work, I see it at the track all the time. I couldn't tell if you did or not, but spin the tires quick in the water to make sure they're covered, and barely pull out of the box where it's still damp to make SURE both will spin. Sorry I wrote so much, but hope that makes sense. Post more track vids!

Yeah if you look at the beginning (maybe i edited it out?) i did spin'em real quick in the water but i think i did pull too far out. It's never done a one-wheel-peel on the street so you're probably right about what happened. I got the car with the 4.10s in it so it *probably* has a newer or rebuilt rear end in it when i got it, but that's 4 years ago so it may need rebuilt anyways.
