hi i will be making a trip to the salvage yard looking for some brown tops. wondering what vehicles had these that will work with the la series computers. i have three but need one used one, so a vehicle list would be great. secondly i am looking on who sells the correct ones for the same computers (new) if i should have to go that route but would be more costly. all going in a 86 2.3 turbo swap project, thanks.

That is not correct.

The vehicles that had brown tops were '86-88 Turbo Coupes and I believe 85-86 SVO's. I don't know what years Merkurs had them.

Older Turbo coupes had Green Tops which are 32 lb.

Besides looking at the color...if the car has a "big vam" it will also have brown tops.

The VAM size is actually not an accurate way to spot 35lb injectors.

All Merkur XR4Tis had 35lb brown tops. '84-85 SVOs had big VAMs and 30lb green tops. '85.5-86 SVOs had big VAMs and brown tops. '83-85 Turbo Coupes had small VAMs and greens. I believe '86('85.5-86?) models had small VAMs and browns. '87-88 Turbo coupes had big VAMs and browns.
