Yea....oops.
When I replaced my junkyard dizzy with an Excel one, I set my timing at *15....or so I thought. You can see my times in my sig, after I set the timing. I was getting detonation at 5200+rpms, but I figured the 99* heat had something to do with it. I ran consistant 13.2 @ 102mph, with a 1.7/1.8 60'.
Last week I started missing, so after looking at my cap I decided to replace it with an MSD cap. At that time a friend of mine told me that he just found out his timing light is off....this is the one I used to set my timing. So I replaced my cap and checked my timing with a new timing light. With the plug out, I was at 25* advanced.
Needless to say I brought it down to 15* and put the plug back in. Everything seems to be running fine.
My question is, what will happen to my times? I am not sure if having such an advanced spark helped or hurt my times the last time out. I don't know what to expect now, will the corrected time hurt, help, or make no difference in my ET and speed?
